Couldn't find a thread so I made one myself. This is probably film of the year stuff, at least for some people and I'd be one of them. The awesome doesn't really stop and there are only a few scenes that might make you cringe. It does seem to be made with modern teens in mind but its much more adult than that. Maybe this is an example of how desensitisation is affecting cinema, but whatever its and awesome show so go see it.
It really is not what I think most people expected.
The violent 11 year old is getting alot of negative opinions from people, personally I'm mixed, it was awesome scenes, but deep down you know its just not right.
Also, the actress will probably take over Hermione whatserface as the celeb jailbait hotty
If I had watched just a small section of the film I would swear it was a Guy Ritchie movie, or at least some sort of Britflick with half the bad guy cast with English actors.
Furthermore, Nicholas Cage didn't ruin it *HIGH-FIVE*

I'll watch it sometime next week. All the trailers look fantastic and I was actually planning on a double feature with Iron Man 2 yesterday, but my buddies didn't want to watch two movies in a row so we decided to do Iron Man 2 this week and Kick-Ass the next.

Ha ha... I was just about to say that indeed things seem to have slowed down a bit around here, when I realized that "kick-ass" refers to a movie title. :D

I posted this in the "what have you been watching lately" giganto-thread:

Surprisingly for something based on a Mark Millar comic, I really liked it. Probably because it was developed in parallel by a functioning human being who actually cares for the characters he writes instead of just wondering how many shocking moments of rape, misogyny and homophobia he can cram in there.
The movie's good though. A bit messy and ultimately it's pretty disposable, but it manages the wild mood swings pretty deftly, and Nicholas Cage does a great Adam West. The only thing that annoyed me was how it overused John Murphy scores from other movies. I counted three uses of the 28 Weeks Later theme and one of Kaneda's Death off the Sunshine soundtrack.
Though "messy" and "disposable" are relative terms. Compared to something like Iron Man 2, it's rock-solid in its plotting and a work for the ages.

I really didn't enjoy Kick Ass. It might have had to do with the fact I had food poisoning at the time, but I really didn't enjoy it.
The girl really bothered me. It wasn't that she was swearing as such, it was that she looked so natural doing it. Similarly the killing in a mini-skirt didn't necessarily bother me, it was that she seemed to know she was 'sexy' in a perverse way.
Thinking back all I can remember of this film is this kid (who annoys me quite a lot, especially in 500 days of summer) and the soundtrack ripping off some amazing tracks from Sunshine and other films. Score your own film, goddamit.

Hit-Girl is the best superhero EVER! The only bad thing about her is that she'll grow up so fast that we'll probably only see her in Kick-Ass 2, at least in the way she is in this movie. But at least there will be Kick-Ass 2! :D
I saw it yesterday - R-Rated indeed . I wonder why it's only made a bit under $80m so far... Lack of marketing?

I almost walked out on the trailer
No seriously, it just came across so inanely cliche and cheezy I almost couldn't stomach sitting till the end of the trailer. No way I could force myself to watch this. Enjoy to the rest of ya folks though!

Its comes across like a cheesy teen movie at first, but it has more in common with Watchmen than any other teeny bopper summer flick.
