Hey Guys n Gals,
I played ThiefG and Thief Metal Age, years ago, and found my disks when going through some stuff the other day. Got them installed using the TFix method, but am currently having issues with interactivity. Cannot seem to use items like doors, my weapons, or potions. Seems that the guards aren't worried about me if they see me, and cannot seem to progress in the game. For instance,Mission 1, Bafford's manor; I make my way around to the guard of the well house, and I can Pick his pocket for the key, but it will not let me use it on the door, nor can I sap any of the wandering mobs on the way there.
Custom system 8Gb RAM
AMD Phenom(tm)II x4 processors @ 2.8Ghz
NVidia GeForce 8200GS GPU
Creative SB LIVE Sound
Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate
Again, I have used the Tfix method for installing the games, but cannot seem to get any world interactivity. have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what is your game source? steam? GOG? CD?
btw, TFix is only fot Thief1/Gold, you should be using TafferPatcher for Thief2.

you have to use "full" install when installing the cd version - check whether you have 12 crf files in the RES folder.

I DO have 12 .crf files, but I specifically remember choosing typical install due to the fact that on "full" installation, it gets hung up on movie file 0039(I think) which is a movie file. My disk 1 is old and fairly scratched. Not sure how I can work around this in order to get the full install.:(

that probably means some of the files are either damaged, or were not copied successfully. I would assume you will still experience the same issues even when trying to run without TFix. you can try cleaning the cd and copying the contents of the cd to your disk and installing from there - that may, or may not help.
at this point, you should consider getting either a unmodified, undamaged image of the game cd from the 'net (this may, or may not be legal depending on where you live), or repurchasing from GOG ($10).

Crap, I was hoping to avoid trying to clean it.... something I'm not familiar with, the outer ring of the CD, is that a data bearing surface that houses actual required information or is it the session ID of the disk? Because it is kinda chewed up. I don't think it will stand a re-buffing. Any idea where I might obtain a copy if the disk 1 ISO for free? Im pretty sure that is is legal to have a back up copy of a copywritten material if you have the original.
If not, I guess I can wait until the first when I get my money and just re-purchase the games.

Thanks for all your help. I have been searching for a legitimate copy for the last 2 hours. It seems that they are all "can not be displayed, are "cracks" or harbor viruses. I will just wait until the 1st. thanks for your time. I see your name all through the site, you are always helping others out. I:cheeky:n case no one else says it, Thanks for your time.
