No IE onboard Windows 7 in Europe
Just read this.
I do not see the point really, will that not mean a lot more to pay out.
Vista I have not had long just a few Glitches with T2 but the rest I find okay.

No IE onboard Windows 7 in Europe
European buyers of Windows 7 will have to download and install a web browser for themselves.
Bowing to European competition rules, Microsoft Windows 7 will ship without Internet Explorer.
The company said it would make it easy for PC makers and users to get at and install the web browsing program.
In response the European Commission expressed scepticism over the move and whether it would allay accusations of Microsoft abusing its market position.

How long does it take when some less educated human comes here and asks "How can I download Firefox if I don't have IE"

Total off-topic-ness aside...how would you? :weird:

Thats just plain.......stupid? How can they do that? Great job Microshaft strong arming the competition.

windows explorer the file viewer can be used as a internet browser.
van HellSing on 13/6/2009 at 05:36
That's because it's integrated and interconnected with internet explorer though, if I'm not mistaken.

This concerns OEMs more than individuals. As it stands now OEMs can't install Firefox, Opera, Chrome, etc even if they want to. With this ruling HP (for example) could install an HP branded Firefox browser on all their new computers.
IOW, there will not be any new computers shipped without an internet browser!

Its not really stupid, its actually a good thing. And as Firefox now has (
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp) 48% market share coupled with the EU antitrust case a while back, MS dont have any motivation to fight in this segment anymore, that and IE8 is even less secure than IE7.

As a sometimes web designer, I say good riddance, and if I never have to see IE again, it'll be too soon.
It does raise the issue of how you download a proper browser on a new computer when you don't have a browser, though.

Good god, no it doesn't. Stats from W3 schools come from visitors to W3 schools - generally people who are interested in learning web technologies and are far less likely to use IE than the average joe.
Firefox's market share is actually around 9% on a global level, although this varies dramatically from country to country. For example it is almost double in Germany.
