Is there any technique to solving a wire puzzle in System Shock 1? The grid puzzles I can do fine, since I can recognize the "side-effects" involved with the activation of a node. With wire puzzles I have no similarly logical process by which to solve them -- I just randomly rearrange the wires until it clicks over, which can take ages with 5- or 6-contact puzzles.
Any trick to it?

Always took me ages as well.

I don't know of any tricks to it. It usually helps to just do one wire at a time, but it can still take a while with some puzzles. Remember that there are Logic Probes you can use to automatically solve puzzles if you get frustrated.

yes - if you put a wire in the right "orientation" from one side to another - for example, completely straight, or a certain amount of pegs apart, then the gauge will increase accordingly even if that wire is not in the correct place. The same if you put a wire in the correct starting or ending positions. Hope that makes at least some sense.

Interesting. It'll still involve a lot of fiddling with, but at least it's progressed from a totally random approach. Thanks!
