On which level of meta irony have we arrived?

But... But...it's a new game! A video game! Who cares about any of the filler details, as long as it's modern and game-y and kewl and fun! I can't wait to give them my money! I look forward to having this title in my collection, even if I never play it, just so I can rub that in yer faces! I got a new game!

it makes 100% sense that there are no hammerites
the order was already decaying in thief 1
after the split in thief 2 and the death of karras it makes perfect sense that there are no hammerites anymore
the fact that the baron is back in thief 4 means that some years have passed
the only thing left of the hammerites will be ruins and small groups with different views of the old (i have no idea whats the word yay) "faith?"
same with the undead
do you realy think the baron AND HIS BIG FGGN ARMY :P^^ want zombies in their city?
in thief 123 we have never seen the true city with the baron and his army

It's a reboot Duriel. The first trilogy has nothing to do with this game. They start from scratch.
If there are no hammerites, well that's because they consider they never existed, nothing else.

Yes, that's exactly what us unwashed GenGamers have been saying, you've nailed it. Idiot.

I'm not sure why the death of Karras and disbanding of Mechanists means the death of the Hammerites. They were imBalanced, and were brought back into Balance, not wiped out. The trilogy was rooted in the Factions, with two sides of the same coin ever trying to pull apart, and one group making sure that wouldn't happen since it would, in their belief, tear The City apart if they succeeded. Garrett was the Keepers' instrument in doing the dirty work they would not. The corruption of the Barony and dealing with Necromancy are the logical next steps, with the Balanced Factions yielding the resources to fix the situation.

Umm... The death of Karras meant the fall of Mechanists and RISE AGAIN of the Hammerites. I think they were just waiting in private for their Mechanist brothers to calm the f*** down.
And have you played Deadly Shadows? The Hammerites were present. Although just upholders of religion (not the law like in Dark Project).

I hope its not too modern and they don't have things like guns and submarines.
