When I run IV5PLAY.exe, it doesn't install anything because I have "newer version(s) installed". I tried to uninstall my current Indeo codecs, but when I go to Add/Remove programs, "Indeo Software" isn't there, and I don't know of any other way to get rid of them, so that I can install the older, SS2-compatible codecs.
I already had the ending ruined for me, because the first time I
killed Shodan
, the game just dumped me back at the main menu. I had to go to Wiki to make sure I actually completed the game and that I wasn't missing anything, and then I found out about
Shodan coming back on the shuttle in the ending cutscene
. I wanna play through the game again, but this time, the right way, with all the cutscenes working.

Have you tried the alternative installer from the Thief FAQ?

Yeah, but it just locks up (after it starts searching for instances of Netscape) and I have to close it via Task Manager.

Odd. Anyways, you can remove video codecs in the Device Manager. Open "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" and double click "Video Codecs". It should list the current version of your Indeo codecs, and an option to remove them, too.

I had the same problem too. Installed SS2 on XP SP2 and everything worked, until I got to the end of the game and was thrown back to the main menu, skipping the ending cutscene. Tried installing the codecs as suggested in the FAQ, but no luck. Anyway I wasn't too bothered, cos I can watch the cutscene from the 'cutscenes' game folder. :)

I tried uninstalling them from Device Manager and that doesn't work either, because the codecs just re-appear each time. I even tried in Safe Mode, but it still didn't work.
Found this program called Codec Sniper, and I found the Indeo codecs when using it, but I don't know if I wanna delete them from there and risk screwing up my system.
