Hello Again,
I have SS2 installed on a Win7 system and it runs without a hitch. Yeah! The only problem I have is with the sound. I'm not getting full 3D sound, meaning, right and left positioning are working, but front and back (facing toward the sound or away), sound the same. It doesn't matter if I'm using my 5.1 system or headphones. I can't to enable EAX in the game settings either. I've used the SS2 Tool, which installs the 2 A3D files into the main folder, but still no luck. Is there a way to enable EAX in a config file somewhere? I couldn't find one that had any sound settings to change. Any help would be appreciated.
System Specs:
Core2Duo E6550, MotherBoard: MSI MS-7350VP, X-Fi Extreme Music, Radeon HD4850 all with
latest drivers (incl Alchemy)
Thanks alot,

If you used the SS2 Tool then EAX should already be enabled and I think you can no longer change it after that. Also if you have your card set to game mode and EAX enabled in the options (both of which are necessary) then you should get the correct output. EAX in ss2 won't give you any new channels like front or rear. Those can be interpolated for 5.1 speakers with the X-FI speaker settings but that's faked.

do it, alchemy is exactly for those games. I installed it so I can have all those nice EAX effects in Mafia. Should work for DX as well.....although I never had any soundtroubles with it on win7 x64

I suspect he may have already tried it, but if it needs a particular version then I'm interested for future reference (i.e. when I finally upgrade my XP machine to Windows 7 :)).

Huh, I missed that.
To actually answer your question then, the relevant config settings in cam.cfg are:
game_hardware 1
sfx_device 2
sfx_eax 1
These should all get added when checking the EAX fix in SS2Tool, so you probably already have them.
