America: Land of the Free, Home of the Not So Brave I Need A Gun To Go To The Shops and WAAAAH WHY CANT I FUCKING HAVE WHAT I WANT FUCK YOU NANNIES OF THE STATE I WANT MY PENIS EXTENSION
Do you really think
that's why I'd like a gun? To somehow prove my manhood?
Quote Posted by Subjective Effect
I understand now. Any country that will allow a total dolt such as you to legally obtain a gun is actually beyond hope.
I can see why England banned guns, because nobody understands jokes over there apparently.

dethtoll - I understand
why you feel the need for a gun. In your situation I might too. But that is why I'd leave. I know it's not easy for people to up and move, and certainly don't think it's the solution to everything. But if I felt my life was in danger I would and if you were given a 100% guarantee that if you didn't move by the end of next month you'd be dead by the end of the the month after you'd move faster than you could remember what month it is.
God, don't you fucking get it?
WE CAN'T MOVE OUT. WE ARE STUCK HERE. THERE IS NO FUCKING ESCAPE. OUR HOUSE IS WORTHLESS AND UNSALEABLE. WE HAVE NO MONEY TO BUY A NEW ONE. WE ARE FUCKED IN THE ASS AND NO AMOUNT OF RATIONALIZING FROM SOME JACKASS FROM ENGLAND IS GOING TO CHANGE THAT. SO UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO WADE INTO THE SHIT HOUSING MARKET HERE AND BUY ME A NEW HOUSE, YOU CAN SHUT THE FUCK UP.Jesus GOD.

Maybe you should be on the internet then. Save the money you're spending on your net connection, cut back on some other things and go for it.
It's all BS anyway - if the scenario I described existed you'd be out of there.

Yeah, sure, cutting back $10/mo would surely get me out of here before I get stabbed to death.
Anyone who lives in England where they banned guns outright shouldn't be commentating on American gun laws like England is somehow superior. Just stop embarassing yourself.
I quit this argument. It'd be more productive to stick my dick in a freezer and slam it repeatedly.
SubJeff on 22/2/2008 at 01:17
I'm not suggesting that the UK is superiour per se, but our gun laws are, for want of a better word, more sensible. That's not a slur on the US, just a recognition of the facts.
I don't believe that anyone living in true fear of their life would not be able to move. If you're extending you gun logic to your saving strategy I'm not surprised you can't afford to move.
Besides, this is all moot. It doesn't change the fact that the US has amongst the highest rate of gun related homicides in the world and that there is no way that you cannot attribute this, at least in part, to the easy availability of guns. If you get mugged in the UK your biggest fear is being stabbed. In the US it's being shot. End of.

Yes, it is idiotic to want to ban deadly weapons that are used everyday in criminal acts and which cause bystander deaths. Ridiculous.
I've seen cars used in criminal acts, and guns used in self-defense. What exactly is your point here?
SubJeff on 22/2/2008 at 02:26
That you're too dumb to see the difference between guns and cars.
I once heard oxygen was used in a crime so the crims could breath confirm/deny shall we ban it?

You really are dense aren't you? Just shut up.

Do you actually have anything worthwhile to say, or are you limited to making weak insults against others' intelligence whenever you see a counterargument you don't think you can handle?

Some amusing folks in California almost got a bunch of crazy leftists to ban water. >>;
Seriously I think leftist tendencies should be added to the DSM as a mental disorder. Prescribing some anti-anxiety meds might lighten you guys up. =p

"left" and "right" are pretty meaningless as political terms. Everyone has their own definition, and for most of those definitions, there are plenty of ideologies that could manifest at almost any point of the spectrum. For example, if you define "left" as "favouring state intervention in the economy" and "right" as "favouring an unregulated economy", then liberalism, conservatism, anarchism, nationalism, feminism, and facism could each show up in a wide range of places on the spectrum; nor would either side of the gun control argument necessarily have a coherent place on the spectrum.

If it was kept in terms of economics only, it'd be fairly simple, but social issues get involved, so it gets all mucked up.
The problem I have is neither party works for me. I'm economically moderate while conservative on some social issues and liberal on others. I guess I'll just keep registering Independent and voting for whomever sickens me the least I suppose.
