Today around 10am, a 26 year old man with a shotgun; entered Cole Hall (@Northern Illinois University)[Cole Hall seats up to 300 people] and began to shoot at the students. Before the police arrived he took his own life. He injured 22 people: 5 dead, 3 critical, 7 stable, 7 good.
I would appreciate a moment of silence for the 5 dead students.

Back on topic: another tragedy. When is it going to end? Seriously? I know we have really bad kneejerk reactions here in the UK but people seem to just be sitting by and letting this happen in the US. Gun laws need and overhaul. Fact.

Fact : gun control law doesn't prevent you from pulling the trigger.
Fact : gun control law only marginally impedes those that REALLY want gun (oh look there's a back alley where they're sold cheap), while unnecessarily bothering law-abiding citizens.
I also don't see how it could be made into law. Isn't "gun rights" enshrined into the constitution? IANAL, obviously.

Yeah, anyway, we've had this discussion a million times. There are too many guns unaccounted for to recall them all. And besides, I'm surely not handing in my gun if the government comes a knocking on my doorstep. Most other legal holders of firearms won't either. I still carry my concealed pistol. Too many times things like this happen, and at least I'd have a way to stop a nut if I'm nearby.

Yeah, cops and security services love it when there's additional crossfire.
Anyway, I think we's need to see what Illinois' gun laws are like already before we go nuts. As said it's this sort of extreme case that gun law won't prevent. The average spur of the moment anger shooting is more the kind of thing fewer guns can have an impact on.
