Hell yes, insta purchase for me, especially as it would have save states, which the Wii version lacks.

@Eva, you can dress it up however you want, but in the end it's piracy. You're illegally obtaining something that should be paid for. I'm not getting all self righteous or anything, and I'm sure 90% of gamers have done it at some point, mainly because it's just too easy and convenient.
So do you think buying Dark Souls on Steam means you should automatically get the rights to it on your PS4 too? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Rom piracy is weird in the sense that everyone does it, everyone knows everyone does it, and everyone pretty much admits to doing it, but it's something of an internet faux pas to try to justify it.

I know, look how big Mame is, there are dozens (hundreds?) of versions and forks and front ends and tools for it, and none of it means anything unless people go out and essentially steal the games.
Renzatic on 10/5/2018 at 16:27
Though with MAME, the majority of the games supported by it were made and distributed by developers and publishers who have been defunct for decades, and finding the boards for them would be like pulling hen teeth.
Yeah, it's still copyright infringement. Abandonware really isn't a legal thing. But hey, who's gonna sue you for it? Without MAME, these games would be lost to the winds.

Preserving games is a noble goal and I myself was a regular at HotU. But when the game became available to purchase, the download link also disappeared.

Don't be ridiculous, again within the same software ecosystem. Xbox have a won a LOT of good will by letting people use their game discs to play X360/oXbox backward compatible games on Xbox 1.

My dad bought me Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for my birthday, and never having played the Wii U version I have to say it's really good. So far it's maybe missing a bit of the classic atmosphere, but it's very cute and surprisingly difficult. I can't play it before bed like I normally do with Mario or BOTW because the adrenaline surges when I make tricky jumps make it hard to sleep.
Also, there's an Arms demo now, so you all have no excuse to at least try it and tell me how much I was overreacting about it (for the record I still think it's one of Switch's best games).

Do people even emulate stuff they didn't own? I've tried playing some old games without the lens of nostalgia, and, meh.

For sure, I'm still discovering games that I'd either heard about or just never had the chance to play before. There's a lot of hidden gems out there.
