I'm with 242 on the stash front, I frequently leave even useful items behind for the sake of being able to sprint. I was just on my way back from yantar after getting the psi helmet (before doing the lab) and I ended up leaving a fresh SEVA suit in the chest with the scientists, dropping a fresh stalker suit that I found in yantar, dropping my UMP45 SMG (homemade) after I used all of the 200 or so rounds I had for it. I also swapped my beril army suit for the healing beril. When I got to back to wild territory and saw just how wild it was, I realised that my remaining 60 or so rounds for the LR300 and 17 rounds for the desert eagle just weren't going to cut it, so I had to drop my empty SPAS12 (the only shotgun I had anywhere) and leg it all the way back to the bar, taking out a few bandits and mercs on the way.
There's a safe blue box with every trader which I use for stashing stuff, I use the one in the bar mostly and the one in freedom a little. I rarely pick up weapons, I try to have one of each type handy in one stash or another and then pick the most appropriate selection for a given mission, I usually don't bring them all back but there's so much money in the game that you might as well just buy a new one.
I never found selling weapons to be very profitable considering the hassle and I'm rarely short of cash. I also like to play any game realistically and I can't see marked one spending ages collecting every dropped weapon, collecting artifacts and doing jobs gives you plenty of cash as it is.

It's an obsessive/compulsive thing. I can't help it. I got this packrat mentality from the early days playing System Shock. I'm simply unable to leave a single object behind. If I can't carry them all, I leave them in stashes to return for them later.
Just to give you an example: on my current game, I've just arrived to Yantar for the first time. So far, I've only been to half the maps in the game: Cordon, Garbage, Dark Valley, Agroprom, Bar, and Wild Territory. I have over 500.000 Ru. I know I don't need them, but I can't stop collecting stuff and selling it. Inside the mobile lab I just stashed around 180 artifacts, which at some point I'll sell to the scientists. And I'll add a lot more artifacts to that stash. Here's an (

Obviously, the only ending I'd get at the Wish Granter would be the 'I want to be rich!' one ;)

Wow, that's uhhh, that's a lot of artifacts. I also notice that you're only carrying one weapon, is that a regular thing? I always carry a pistol even though I know they're actually pretty crap in stalker since it takes about the same amount of time to switch to it as it does to reload (I still do usually switch to it when I need to reload in the middle of a close up firefight but that's really out of habit from playing too much counter strike). I often also carry a shotgun or smg along with main rifle.

Is it just me, or is the stalker forum on fire today?
D'Arcy on 8/11/2007 at 19:18
It's on fire, but the fire is kept by two or three members ;)
Yes, carrying only one weapon is a regular thing for me. And I also try to carry only one type of ammo for that weapon. My basic equipment very rarely exceeds 25Kg (this way I can bring back more loot ;)). I prefer to keep my other weapons in a stash at the Bar on at the Freedom base, then choose the right equipment before going on a few quests, instead of carrying several weapons with me.

Aw man are you telling me that some point it was possible to drive a Lada around the STALKER world? That better be avaliable in Clear Sky!
D'Arcy on 9/11/2007 at 20:57
There are mods available that reintroduce driving in Stalker.
242 on 9/11/2007 at 22:10
But it's useless because maps are too small for driving.
