Yes, brilliant. Oh, and I was talking about Mogwai being tight, not the Stones
But seriously, the stones' music/lyrics is totally fucking irrelevant to anything
ps SlyFoxx - the standard by which you judge good music is a magazine called Guitar Player? Are you deaf? Hey, feel free to use your ears and not some sweaty hairy ball-scratching crone hack's opinion of a sweaty hairy ball-scratching crone guitar players finger-tapping ability or whatever - or ram a screwdriver through your eardrums and keep up the good work chum
Ah - too right. Never heard of Mogwai. Don't dis Guitar Player. I learned how to play Symphony of Destruction in just under four minutes from tab written out by Dave Mustaine HIMSELF. Finger tapping rules.

Yeah, I used to read guitar player. It's very good for learning to play the guitar, talking about guitars etc, but it's not so hot when it comes to having a non-conservative taste in music. It's kind of like the technical sister-mag to rolling stone or something.

I challenge you to hold that opinion up next to a metronome, a $5 tuner, and a copy of Jumpin' Jack Flash (any of their suck ass songs really), and stare that shit right in the face. You lose.
Rock 'n Roll isn't about precision. If the measure of a band was how well they track a metronome, Dream Theater wouldn't be confined to the musical ghetto that they are. That's what band geeks care about, the guys out living "Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n Roll" have better things to worry about.
I'm not much of a Stones fan, but anyone who denies that Exile on Main Street is one of the greatest albums of all fucking time doesn't deserve to call themselves a music fan.

If you don't at least on some level appreciate the Stones then you simply don't like rock and roll.

Who is Mogwai?
Gingerbread Man on 5/4/2007 at 15:54
mogwai is pants
Also Keef did no such thing.
Paulie007 on 5/4/2007 at 16:18
The fucking guitarist from Mogwai?! I guess “Barry” is entitled to his opinion regardless of how inane it is.

I think there's a balance though. When I'm trying to pick out the key to Black Flowers and the guy's tuning is so fucked up as to make it impossible...well, you've heard the song and it sucks oxen dick.
I'm not saying they haven't had a good song or two, I just thought Vernon was saying they were 'tight' and there's a strong distinction between 'tight' and 'good' even with 'good' being a subjective term.

I'm amazed at how so many people can hate a band which so many others would cite as one of the greatest of all time. The Rolling Stones rock, man.
I'd also like to know how many of todays bands cite influence from The Rolling Stones, I bet its quite a lot.

Damn straight. I love that fuckin' album to bits. That shit is timeless.
And Dead Flowers might suck oxen dick - which is an interesting image, by the way - but I love the way it tramples all over the usual country song. When it comes to that, the badly tuned guitars are a BONUS.
