Fuck off, you sanctimonious prick.
Thanks.
If that is all you got to say, I know I'm not wrong.

Yes and it's typical for people to have more and more radical views as they're getting old. I see that with my parents, friends too. But this ignorance about Middle Ages and role of Christianity isn't a result of aging mind. It's a lack of education. Nobody who even touched the surface of that topic regards Middle Ages as "dark age" - these are 19th century views. And whether you like it or not, Christianity is a cultural foundation of Europe. You could at least browse a few Wikipedia pages before posting silly things like that.

Now I know it's only wikipedia.
But here: (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Ages_%28historiography%29)
"Dark Ages is a term of historical periodization traditionally meaning the Middle Ages. It emphasizes the demographic, cultural and economic deterioration that supposedly occurred in Western Europe following the decline of the Roman Empire."
In my language (Dutch), we don't see Middle Ages and Dark Ages as two separate entities. We only have one word ("Middeleeuwen"). And I thought Dark Ages is the English word for Middeleeuwen. Apparently there are some subtle differences in English. Sorry. Next time we'll discuss in Dutch, ok ? Sorry for using the wrong historical technical term.
But I still believe: (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SJ6AV31MxA) Catholicism is not a force for Good in the World. And neither are (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dbx-MYjy6PI#t=2m19s) Christianity or Islam.
I can link all kinds of youtube-links of Hitchens or Fry or any one else. But you can look them up for yourself.
I'll shut up in this thread. Again.
And you can all continue thinking how awesome you are, how nice the world is, and keep dancing your happy dance and singing Kumbaya.

It was the bible that told us that black people we closer to animals than they were to us.
Nowhere does it say this in the Bible, you ignorant tool.

Only after WWII we got control over Christianity. Before WWII Christianity had a huge direct and indirect impact on European life and European politics. Only in the fifties and sixties humanity (in Europa) was able to kick those Christian dogs into the corner where they belonged. And if they dared to speak, we'd kick them back in their corner.
You're a fucking asshole. Talking about dogs, your foaming-at-the-mouth rants against religion are more the behavior of a rabid dog than any behavior I or other Christians here have ever displayed. And it's really nice that you're showing so much disrespect towards the generation who built up our country after the war, you fucking prick.
You're the most unpleasant person on these forums. I'd rather be a Christian dog than a hateful piece of shit militant atheist like you. With atheists like faetal, I get along fine, we can have a discussion based on rational arguments. There's no discussing anything with you in a reasonable manner. Everyone is fucking sick of it by now, FYI.

Yeah, those not so subtle differences in nomenclature won't hide the fact that your views are outdated, and since you're on Wikipedia, you might check the last section here: (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_Ages)
And it's not just Wikipedia approach, I was taught that in similar manner at University, more than 10 years ago. Sure, the world isn't as nice as we'd like it to be, but it's certainly more complicated and nuanced than you think of it.

Oh, I get it. We have christians here. It's getting personal.
Christianity has bullied people around for ages. Telling homosexuals and women they are inferior. Starting wars. Abusing people. Fucking up people's lives. But when you call them names, I suddenly cross a line.
Let me tell you guys one little anecdote about how fun and innocent and awesome religion is.
In the street where I live, right under my window, we have police officers patrolling with machine-guns. Every day, all day. I had never seen that before. Now I see machine-guns out in the open when I walk to work. Why ? Because (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Museum_of_Belgium_shooting) some Muslims don't like Jews. Keep telling me all religion is peace.

Heywood, really? Then why the “Gun” and “Brexit” threads. for example? When I wish to comment about a game, I go to the particular game forum page. This is mostly Thief Fan Missions. I thought CommChat was sort of an open forum.
“Gryz”, I understand your viewpoint. Not 100% there with you on it, but get it. Dogma is a bitch and following dogma blindly is the reason we have not advanced as a society. Sure, we have wonderful toys today, but relations between people are not so great. Some like to believe that different races and ethnicities will play nice together, but that really only happens if there is some segregation or one group's culture is absorbed by another. The second any anti-culture starts to make itself known, troubles arise. Case in point - BLM (Black Lives Matter) vs ALM (All Lives Matter). Secular Europe vs Sharia. The Pope vs billions of women that do not want to get pregnant. UKIP. Bernie Sanders followers. Sticky subject.
Thank you everyone for commenting, even the ones that call me an idiot. I am glad to get this discussion going, even if my method was childish, insensitive, and frankly boorish. Again, I apologize for that. If I could go back in time, I would not have posted in such a way. I would have posted, but not in such a accusatory way. My feeling at the time was, “I feel like shit about this and no one here seems to care... They'll post about their favorite new song, but ignore slaughter.” It seemed unreal to me at the time. Does not excuse the outburst though. Again, sorry.

But silence means approval...
Approval? Approval of what? Killing babies? Silence can mean approval but to use the first line of the first post on this event to loudly assert that TTLG, as a community, approves of baby killing, is exactly what you intended it to be, insulting and incendiary. Stop whining about getting the results you anticipated.

No, I do not have my finger on the pulse, but I think I have a far better sense than the ostrich viewpoint of many.
But you do know this forum well enough to know that the tone and wording of your post was wildly inaccurate and provoking. Or are you that clueless? If this forum was as fascist as you imply, you would have been expelled ages ago. Consider that next time you fancy spitting in the bean dip.

Actually, ISIS
has claimed responsibility. "The person who carried out the operation in Nice, France, to run down people was one of the soldiers of Islamic State," the news agency Amaq, which supports Islamic State, said via its Telegram account.
Of course ISIS is going to claim responsibility, it's free publicity for them. It doesn't mean that they orchestrated the act in any direct way.
Like all terror groups, they rely on vulnerable people to do their bidding, whether directly or indirectly. The commanders and ideologues never strap on the explosive belts. These self motivated "soldiers" are usually outcasts with criminal histories. And that speaks to a failure of criminal justice systems, which fail to identify chronic crime as a mental illness, requiring long term treatment and monitoring. Instead they warehouse offenders in inhumane environments and expect them to spontaneously reform. So of course, prisons are a breeding ground for radicals and new foot soldiers.
