We have some good news and bad news. The good news is that HIRISE camera of the newly arrived Mars Reconnaisance Orbiter has been turned on! The new Mars images are spectacular. You could see them on the following link:

This is the most powerful camera ever sent to another planet and it will provide views with a great detail! It will even be used to find wreckage of failed spacecraft as the lost Mars Polar Lander which crashed on landing attempt in 1999 and Beagle 2 which felt silent soon after its separation from the mother craft.
The bad news is that privately funded rocket Falcon 1 failed to reach orbit. The launch vehicle was expected to blast off with a small satellite. This was going to be the cheapest rocket in the world. However, the first launch attempt ended in a disaster.
We don't know when the next flight of Falcon will be, but it won't happen before the investigation of the mishap has completed.

I can't imagine why it failed.
They probably built it out of duct tape and used gasoline as propellent.

While I'm very much interested in this particular topic myself, this forum isn't spacechat. (I kind of wish it wasn't totchat so much either).
