Hello all.
I have just heard about this V1.19 thing and thought I would give it a go. As I susspected, it did not work. Here is what I did:
New install of Thief.
Downloaded patch and patched to 1.18.
Pasted files from the 1.19 patch as instructions to the Thief folder.
Clik on the icon, unknown publisher warning, clik proceed.
All I get is "Unable to locate or load d3dx9_43.dll"
Can anyone help please.
I am sorry if this is a question that has been asked before. I had a quick look in the thread but did not see anything.

Initially I got the same problem, Lost Soul.
Installing the latest DirectX (9.0c) solved it for me. For links see release_notes.txt in the zip.

Just one more question. Where do I extract the directx files to ?

@Lost Soul: Should just be an .exe that you run that updates your system. In other words, the installer will put the files where they need to go.

I think all readmes/FAQs/stickies should be renamed to DO NOT READ THIS IT WILL EAT YOUR SOUL. maybe then people will finally start to read them.

why would you send him anyplace other then microsoft for a direct-x upgrade ?
I seriously recommend you only get that stuff from the source in this case at (
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35) http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
Btw the reason it is required is because you are running vista or windows 7 and they come with directx-10/11 so you have to install directx9
Most people dont run into this problem because they install games which generally try to install and update directx for you as part of the install process.

The d3dx9_43.dll is not an upgrade to DX9. It's dangerous to D/L such files from these sites, and I don't recommend it unless you've got a good AV program on board. I didn't have any problems with the file, and it fixed DromEd, so the site seems to be trustworthy.
I'm running XP, BTW.
