Oh, little tip. If you are trying to get T1/Gold working with Orgy/Daemonit's model patches, 1.19 doesn't have the "character detail" option in the menus to let you set that -- so in cam.cfg you'll want to add:
character_detail 1
To turn it on.

there are some texture packs for T1 available, but most of them stray too much from the original concept, and there are no hipoly AI's available (you can use the slightly better T2 models, but that's about it). but, now that all those new tools are available, upgrade packs of Rebirth's and SHTUP's caliber are just a matter of time, I think.

So... anyone considered improving the character models now that we've got more poly's and higher res textures to play with?
AFAIK, this patch does nothing for the polygon count of AI models. But it was already perfectly possible to create higher-detail AIs than the games shipped with, as demonstrated by the Rebirth mod for SS2.

Goddammit, took me a few seconds to realize that those are just textures, not actual geometry.

Lol, yeah. Everyone's worked up about that. I mean, I know why, but let's have some other example than someone's wallpaper.

That's beautiful...in more ways than one.

How big are those textures?

Based on the guards' size, I'd guess 4096x4096 (the max allowed by NewDark if I recall correctly from the docs).
That makes me realize you can have some pretty freakin' amazing distant art now. Hell, just paint an airbrush outside your city/mission/whatever with something purty.
