A crazy idea maybe, but would it be possible to remake TDS for T2? So all three games are the same stylistically?

Is this a response to making the change Le Corbeau suggested, or just a response to his message?

Although ambitious, it would be super-delicious...Add to that a NewDark texture pack for 1 and 2, and you would have a triple triumph deluxe.

No...It's just sublime dark affection.

to the fact of a 2nd contact. This implies to me that whoever made the patch did not just throw it over the wall (or I suppose to use the Raven and Fox metaphor, drop it from the raven's mouth and fly away), but is paying attention to this and other forums' reactions to the patch. Maybe even checking out things that look like real bugs and planning a bug fix re-release? After all, how many platforms could this person have tested the patch on? The fact that we haven't seen any really big bugs is amazing considering the scope of change. I mean the Thief2 executable, what, doubled in size? That's a whole lot of new code! No. I was afraid this would be a one time deal, and we would never hear from our feathered friend again. I just wish I knew what is intended.

I'm having trouble getting excited like you guys about this patch. I installed it and fired up Thief 2 and I don't really notice any difference.
No longer have to mess with re-registering video codecs, setting core affinity, and installing DDFix.
No longer have to wait through that annoying resolution-change pause when switching back and forth between game and menus.
Can set higher screen resolutions than DX6 supported, and directly in the game.
Can scale up HUD elements independently of screen resolution.
Better frame rate.
Renderer now runs 32-bit internally, so less texture posterization.
Star size now resolution-independent.
Less banding on sky horizon gradients.
Square and pixel particles now render as discs.
Large disc particles now smooth instead of banded.
Can now save screenshots as PNGs (and they go in their own folder now).
Better mantling.
Better ladder handling.
More sound channels.
Built-in FM manager.
Yeah, gee, nothing to get excited about there.

No worries we were all young once.
1) if you only want to play you don't
need any of the DromEd stuff. But ... you may still
want it because it can be useful, and you never know, you might get bitten by the modding bug. So I recommend installing it all if you have the disk space to do so.
2) This is probably the simplest approach for you to take (others may disagree and chime in):
a) reinstall a clean T2 from your official media. Since yours is from Steam & mine isn't I don't know exactly what that means for you. But you want a clean installation with no customizations to start with.
b) read and apply (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131106) Tafferpatcher: unofficial complete patch for Thief 2 to your current T2 installation. I suggest this because, while it may put in some stuff that's obsoleted by 1.19, it should guarantee that your base is now a correct 1.18 patched version. Start Thief2.exe and test it to make sure everything works as expected.
c) read and apply the "Instructions for Installation and Application of the 1.19 Patch Including DromEd" (above). Start Thief2.exe and test it to make sure everything still works as expected.
That should do you.
Edit: (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114292) DromEd ToolKit (should you decide to install DromEd)
Thanks a lot for now, gonna try that later! :)
Btw, my Steam directory is on my games partition, not under Program Files. I'm still busy with T1, so reinstalling T2 shouldn't be a problem (losing saves etc.).
I wonder if the mysterious guy is one of the original developers... :sly:

HOLY CRAP, Le Corbeau connected back on Ariane4ever !!!!
He posted this (roughly translated) :
The Raven is the messenger. From his perch, he watches the shadows who found themselves back.
DromEd.exe @ 0x14A701 change 02 to 01
ShockEd.exe @ 0x18EC11 change 02 to 01What would it do ?
(
http://ariane4ever.free.fr/ariane4ever/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4287&start=45)
That looks like some bytes to be changed with a hex editor.
I'll try it and see what it does...
Edit: I tried it. It didn't seem to do anything noticeable. DromEd still runs fine.
Any idea what it might have been meant to do?
