Okay, so the funny thing is, I've been drooling over this game for ages and poking all my friends to buy it, and I spent waaay too much time in the forums long before the game came out. This, however, is only my first week playing Morrowind. Due to computer problems, it's actually more like my third day. And WOW. Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow.
I said to my dad, "Daggerfall made me want to create a thousand characters and play out the adventures of one. Morrowind makes me want to create a hundred characters, and play them all." It really is like Daggerfall, only MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better.
Everything I see amazes me... it feels like a real, living, breathing, beautiful, harsh world. The colors are so subtle, the creatures so interesting and strange. And the NPCs, you can tell they were each given their own little something, as opposed to being a billion little robots. Ajira was rather funny, and Ranis is an awesome bitch, and that Larrius guy made me crack a grin with his 'little story' and 'bloodbath' stuff. And it was fun to run around with my buddy Itermel, or whatever the hell his name was. And damn, is Dralval Andrano cute. Okay, now I'm just being a total geek.
To be even more of a geek, I'll give a bit of a status report here. I'm actually using a pathetic PII 400mhz to run this game. I do, however, have a CDRW drive and a GeForce4 and DirectX8.2. Surprisingly, it all runs pretty well, although it does go a little slow now and then. My character is currently level 11 or so. She's a dark elf I named Kaelin Gwyndolan, just as in Daggerfall, and is a custom class Battlewitch. Her skills are Long Blade, Restoration, Alteration, Destruction, and Speechcraft as major, with Heavy Armor, Conjuration, Illusion, Mysticism, and Mercantile for minor. Yeah, I know, not the fastest-leveling character, but a lot of fun to play. Wilderness travel feels a bit tedious, but nowhere near so much as in Daggerfall, and it feels more like an exhausting miniature adventure than a long monotonous crawl. Things looked kind of dreary in screenshots at first glance, but in the actual game, the subtle use of color impresses me. Mmmm, mmm. And those Netches are just plain neat. I can't wait to see the vampires and the dwarves and the volcanoes and I'll never forget my first ash storm and I REALLY hate cliff racers and oh boy are silt striders awesome and I love the water and I can't wait to get my very own guar--
I would be more coherent and possibly get to a point somewhere, but I really want to get back to the game. ;)
One little P.S. here, though... is there any romantic type stuff? I heard something about that, but never actually have confirmed the rumors. It'd be a nice touch, but I'm still happy as a clam with the game as it is.

Nice to hear you like it so much - as i (and most other i guess) do the same.
Well, there is some kind of "romance".
If you would have chosen a male charakter, there is the Kajit "A...." in Pelagiad you gets into romance with you and gives you several quests. (If you like me, you would do me this favor - sounds somehow familiar, even if i hadnt to kill some in RL :cheeky: )
But have a female one. Mhhh, cant confirm it - someone else ?? - but as far as i have heared, there should be a Telvani Counselor, that only wants female Warriors.
Have fun !

Ahhh Wynne, I remember you from back in the day! :D Glad to hear that you are finally able to play Morrowind... it would have been torture if I had to wait this long to play. I guess that's why I was playing it on a Celeron 433 with a TNT2! :D
The best part for me is the fact that 90% of the quests have mutiple ways of finishing them, ranging from Combat to buttering them up. It certainly adds to the roleplaying aspects, expecially since my character almost never kills.
If you find travelling tedious... look for things along the way! Many adventures await if you travel even slightly off the beaten path.
You can't really 'own' a Guar (Unless you use a plugin), however, you can own some other creatures if you buy Tribunal.
There is one 'romance' type quest, but you have to be a male character for them to be activated (IIRC). Look for a female Khajiit in Peligaid.
Well, it's good seeing you around once again, and I hope you have many great adventures!

Striker's pretty much said it all (as usual ;)), but welcome, Wynne ;)
Btw, MM, that Telvanni councilor (Mistress Dratha) don't like women so much as she just hates men.

Hello.
If you include sexual harassment as romance, then there are two other quests that fit the bill...
House Hlaalu - the strip tease you perform for Curio (boy, am I glad I chose a female character)

A human thief near Pelegiad gives you the option of training in return for a kiss (once again, glad I chose a female character)
And if you include nudie shows, then I suggest you head with all speed to
the House of Earthly Delight in Suran - look for the red lantern.
There are also several quests that involve romance for NPCs -
the Zainab chief requires some assistance securing a wife

there's a Daedric shrine in the northwest region (sorry - forget which one!) where a human's fiance has been kidnapped by Daedra worshippers, and requires rescuing and reuniting with her beloved

again on a road entering Pelegiad, you might chance across a damsel robbed of her family jewels - but she's fallen in love with the rogue that took them. How "Mills and Boon" is that?
Can anyone think of any others?

Glad to see that you're enjoying the game. I remember how before Morrowind's release you'd give the fans an update every week or so on this forum with some new previews and screenshots... it must be really fun to be actually playing the game now. Oh, and btw, your combination of magic and combat skills will really pay off in the long run (it did for me, anyway).
Hope you have fun! :)

welcome to Morrowind, a world of infinate possibility. Save the world, get rich, or kill everyone (can be hard, depending) But enjoy the world, play with everything, poke around and remember that around every bend there just might be fame and fortune, or a piss off daedra lord, you just never know. Play the races, create custom classes, and all in all, have fun, i know i have these past months, kept me sane as a Senior English major at Fredonia State College. peace
