Hi Everyone
I have just begun my first run with morrowind ( have never played the elderscrolls b4) As usual I am just trying to familiarise myself with the game controls b4 i go and create my character proper. I just have three little queries.
1 I went into the caves and tried to water breath with the aid of a violet something but it said I couldn't do the effect or nothing happened. The manual doesn't mention water breathing at all. Some basic info would be really helpful.
2 Also another forum mentioned that your better off with a fighter character than a magic character as the magic is less useful in the game and most situations are best dealt with by a fighter.
3 I accidentally killed a citizen in his house. Nobody saw me and nothing happened. Will this effect anything or can I get away with the occassional murder as long as nobody finds out.
Many Thanks

1. Eating plants doesn't reliably produce results. It's very likely that you'll get no effect if you have a low alchemy skill. What's more important about those plants is that you can produce potions that will work every time that have the effects that it lists. Just get that alchemy skill up.
2. I started out with a thief character when I first played, and did rather well. Haven't used a lot of magic, though. I've tried, but magicka limitations are an issue. Just remember, you'll need to adjust your play style quite a bit to play a magic user. Most of my magic use eventually came from enchanted items.
I've gotten past the main quest with a thief, which takes a bit of effort, and you'll need higher level, but it can be done. Fighters probably are a bit easier, but I generally find them boring. Just remember, it's very easy to powerlevel in Morrowind, so don't worry about whatever the best, most powerful character is. Any character can evenually be leveled up into an uber one. Focus on how you want to play and not on the stats. More fun that way.
3. Won't cause any problems if you do this. It won't screw up the main quest (You'd have seen a 'the threads of fate have been severed...' message), but there's a slight chance another quest has been screwed up. It depends on who you killed.

You'll be uber-powerful after a while, unless you stunt yourself. It doesn't really matter what class you are. What the people should have said, rather than most situation are best dealth with as a fighter, is that once you get up through the levels a bit, you'll be able to kill anything with fighter tactics, no matter your class. I think being a thief style player (stealth) makes for a great time. Stealing stuff is so much fun. When you can knock over the Hlaalu and Redoran vaults, you can come hang out with my Khajiit at the South Wall :thumb:

i have found that if i go to ajira in the lower floor of the mages guild that she trains the alchemy skill for every 15 alchemy skill points you get an identifier which makes you more able to use the plants and potions (on the top floor of the tower in the caldera mages guild there is a complete set of alchemy things you will need to create your own potions) to use them drag the mortar and pestle onto your character and then select the ingredients to use. there is also a book by ajira in balmora that gives you some recipes
