Sorry for the newbie type question - Do you need to succumb to Cassius' advances to solve the main quest?

Yes. You must. But you can join other guildes and a Great House. He cant control which ones you do join. :thumb: If you need any more info, I can help. Jus PM

it is usually more fun to go through and become the boss of several guilds before you. anyways for some of cauius quests it is quit helpful to have leveled several times

thanks for your help. After reading your posts I sent an e-mail to Bethesda (and got a lightning quick reply). The official answer is no you do not need to succumb to his advances in order to complete the game. They provided a genearal overview of what they referred to as a "backpath" (ironic terminology don't you think) to complete the main quest.
