Doesnt stop the loading phase? Wasn't that a firewall issue?
WEREWOLF357 on 12/3/2005 at 20:09
Ok you certainly have a point but forgive my shrotness cos i have been trying all day. Okay going thru the checklist:
Uninstalled mods, didnt have any.
uninstalled game done
Reinstalled called directory thief 3 and patched done
Copied files over to folder renamed thief3 editor
Deleted certain files in folders done
Extracted editor there
Modified the shortcuts
Changed the ini. filedone
Didnt add any mods
Something must have gone wrong here:
"
#9 Add whatever mods you want to the standard installation inside the Thief3 directory.
#10 To switch between Editor and regular game mode I suggest you use dracflamloc's Thief 3 Launcher. Just fill in the directories in the two boxes.
To launch manually rename Thief3 Edit to Thief3 and start /SYSTEM/t3.exe editor
If you fail to rename the directories when manually running the editor you will get a Viktoria error with the error message Unable to load static mesh 'WEPaiSWORD'!
"
I have followed everything else exactly and now I don't know where i stand and about 5 other people i know have same problem. please advise has anyone else received the commandline error when starting the editor icon.

OK. Here's what I did. I uninstalled my mods, uninstalled the game, reinstalled the game, patched it, made a copy of the game folder (now called Thief3), and extracted the 322 MB Zip into the copy folder (called Thief3 Edit). Then I trashed the file the wiki told me to trash, changed the name of the file I was supposed to change and edited the script of the third file accurately (I've double checked). Having done that I reinstalled my mods in the game, and downloaded the launcher. I set the launcher to the right folders and pressed the launch editor button. Nothing happens. No error messages, no reaction from the processor and HD at all. I tried to run the game instead, and that worked fine. I quit the game and went for the manual approach. I renamed the directories as prescribed, sent a shortcut to the t3.exe file to the desktop and added "editor" to the shortcut in properties. Wooohooo! Something seemed to happen. First it loaded T3.exe, then T3ed.exe started to load, but then the loading process was cut short by the file finder prompting me to "Find Sound Vocabulary". The following files were present in the finder: motions.vcb, PhysicsSounds.vcb and sounds.vcb. Opening any of them only results in an error called "WEPaiSWORD, unable to load a static mesh".
That's about all I can tell you apart from my system specs:
Fully updated Win XP
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
Creative Nvidia 5900 Ultra 256 with the latest drivers
Intel Pentium 4 CPU
1500 MB of PC3200 SDRAM
Here's the full error message, if that's any help:

Well i have retraced steps again and i may have fixed something. I have played around with the launcher maybe that was at fault, using the dracflamloc launcher it has opened up a window, one path says launch thief 3 other says launch editor. where do i go from here please
Thanks for your time
Garrett's Mind2 on 12/3/2005 at 20:48
Apparently you double click on the folder where the editor is in the left window, and press the launch editor button. That's all there is to it, but for me it doesn't work.
WEREWOLF357 on 12/3/2005 at 20:57
Well i launched the editor! Very confusing process, i clicked launch editor and nothing, then i clicked on the thief 3 edit folder and launch and it started to load something and then opened up a file path request box wanting to know where from so i went into the thief 3 edit folder to find the editor icon and there was nothing slectable so i closed it and it launched the ditor anyway. So i suppose its working now, not exactly sure how it worked now, or what ive done except repeat the process for the 5th time but its got a big screen with alot of tools so im pleased, it encountered one error regarding resources. It loads alil slow, maybe 20 seconds or bit more until the writing comes up on the taskbar, but then it seems it's working. The resource error was regarding meta types i think to do with concrete objects that were no longer in existence. Is this normal?

OK then, glad you got it to run :)
It does take a while to load, yes. It's the same on my system. Once it's up it should be fine.
The key thing you need to check is the registry entries for the game. What dracflamloc's launcher does is change these rather than rename the directories.
Open up regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Ion Storm > Thief - Deadly Shadows and make sure the ION_ROOT key points at your editor installation. If you've entered the paths correctly in the launcher this should be all fine and dandy.
It's just occured to me that Dave's instructions only work if you've installed the game to a directory called "Thief3" in the first place - that's the only way the registry keys would be pointing to the right place. I believe this is what I got wrong myself, but dracflamloc's program sorted me out.

Komag, it may be helpful if you add something to the wiki tutorial, or link to your own from there.

It points to the editor the way you describe, but still nothing happens.
