McCain's about as republican as my parents are now "democrats" after changing registration for the primaries
Don't know about anyone else but I'm voting Libertarian, the only way to keep more than 50% of your paycheck.

Yeah, nothing cries "respect us" more than having a government the size and competence of Burundi.
I try to be as objective as one can get and try to get a feel for their whole policy (
http://www.ontheissues.org/default.htm) background ... and then what character type they are. Obama is the gunner lawyer-type, the sort that gets elected to EIC of the Harvard Law Review and carries that agenda into practice; and McCain is the military-politician type, principled and pragmatic. Both of them have the advantage of being flexible, so you know they will grow into the office.
The feeling in the "air" these days, IMO, is that the appearance of technical competence is getting a bigger thumb on the scale of who people respond to, and on that Obama > McCain. The air is on his side, even though McCain might be a better textbook politician.

You do know there's a difference between flipflopping and flexibility, right? and how can you call McCain 'pragmatic'? he's never even heard of the internet. Also, McCain's about as stubborn as they come, minus perhaps JWB Jr.
The "straightalk express", is exactly that and I have a feeling once he's in office and the train has left, there's going to be no catching it. To be blunt, the man's on his deathbed with nothing to lose, he's not even considering a second term! Trying to lead a country in that state of mind sends shivers down my spine.

I don't want it to seem personal. I'm having second thoughts about starting this thread anyway. I may just change the title.

I could say more on this, but in a nutshell I'm just talking about the mentality of career-military, especially those taking the military route into politics. Those people define themselves as "pragmatic" in their work-style ... issues are "problems", and what's the right "tool" to solve the problem. They aren't as blindly ideology-driven as, say, someone getting into politics through the "protege" or "activist" route.
I'm not saying it's the best personality for the office ... just that that kind of person is more likely to take a pragmatist's work-style into the office rather than a crusader's style.

You've created a new thread with a WALL OF TEXT just to convince someone else, and you included a nick, that Barack Obama is a good candidate.
How is that
not personal?

I don't know about Yandros, but I'm voting for McCain because he is the Republican candidate.
So I'm guessing Peanuckle is an abbreviation of Pea-brained Knucklehead?

I thought you were a student? I guess salting fries at Wendy's must be paying better these days if you're worried about tax.

Afternoon
IMHO I think it would be good for a black man to become president of a country like america, hell we could do with that over here as well to be blunt.
For all the issues people have with him, he is still a younger and better person to run the country than all the 'old money' 'old power' 'no intellect' imbeciles(bush) that had been doing it(badly) previously.
Look at it this way, atleast he cant be any worse than his previous pears, and I hazard a guess he will be far batter, where as Mcain seems to just another puppet.
my 2 pence.
