*applause*
But where are the threads from that forum now, were they moved or simply deleted?
It would be a loss!

The splintering problem could be solved if there were real sub-forums in place. Console forums accessable only by going through GenGaming first. That way, most of the discussion stays out in the open mostly out of laziness and love of the Old Ways, but the real hardcore conversation is dug a little further back.
Actually, I just want to see more of that complaining about the XBox, that was arousing in the most wonderful way
EDIT: HAY GUYS THIS IS EDIT 27 I THINK MAYBE I FINALLY HAVE SPELLED MORE THAN ONE WORD CORRECTLY YAY

I didn't think it was very funny. It just seemed like regular business to me. I mean... if Publix (grocery store) opens up a video game section, but there's nothing in it, april fools ha ha and then closes it. But if they took the effort to make a video game section, actually fill it with video games to buy, and then close it, thats just dumb.
Ok, check out this theory:
Whoever in the Admin Circle thought it might be a good idea to have an Xbox forum. Not being sure if it was, they came up with an ingenious plan...they would create the forums a day or so before april fools, and they would see the response. If it got popular fast, they would leave it and everyone would say "Oh, nice going TTLG Admins, you always know how to drive more traffic!". If it didn't get popular, the Admins would just say April Fools (or in this case, APIRL FLOSS), take it down, and nobody says "That was a dumb idea...dummy heads". Nothing gets by me!

Well it seems that so far you are the only one who didn't really like it.;)

Fanciful theory, but not true. The announcement I made said <i>"We've been in discussion with a leading Xbox site about the possibility of a partnership"</i> as well as it being aimed at a younger audience than TTLG. This was the biggest giveaway as we are extremely unlikely to create a partnership with anyone, let alone a site/forum aimed at a bunch of lolling 12 year olds! :laff:
It should also be obvious that increased traffic != increased revenue as mentioned in the announcement too.
The first couple of drafts were a bit too real, I thought this one was obvious enough though. :erg:
One of the beauties of the Internet and April Fools day is that few people look outside their own timezone so it can be hard to spot what is true and what isn't!
PS, the specs for the server that we "need revenue for" have been finalised talking to Saam last night, and should hopefully be ordered in the next few days :D

I was actually fooled  and I was wondering why in the world would we want younger audiences here? But, then, who am I to question the mod.. and today I was looking all over for the damn forum and almost created a thread to ask about it in CommChat. Bravo! Good one David/GBM!

Also, as I already said on IRC yesterday, what would GenGaming be like without the usual omg consoles/pcs suck, pcs/consoles are far better arguments? ;)

This april fools joke is exactly why I keep coming back to these forums. :thumb:
Although I agree with there being no reason console discussion can't take place GenGaming. I was totally fooled into thinking it was real thing because of the build up before April 1st &, quite simply, because it wasn't such a bad idea at all in my mind. I actually didn't catch on until someone (I think it was BR796164) posted a spoiler text asking if the event had no real connection to the date (the first poster to actually raise the question of a possible april fools joke... at least in that forum if I remember correctly).
This was one of best april fools jokes to happen this year IMHO. Good one David/GBM! :thumb:

Nah, there's no point in splitting gengaming any further. At times that forum can be pretty dry as it is. :erg:

GenGaming kicks ass the way it is. While a separate forum might encourage people to post more about consoles, it's probably best to leave it alone unless there's a significant console faction that needs to be split off.
