Something to consider: When you return to New York after after you've finished in Hong Kong, the 'Ton is occupied by police and Gilbert Renton is nowhere to be found. When you talk to Sandra in the Underworld bar, JC says "Sorry about the 'Ton" or something like that, but neither make any reference to what happened to Gilbert. Was he killed for resisting the police? Locked up? Moved away inexplicably leaving Sandra behind?

My bad - just a bit confused about which visit to Hell's Kitchen has this encounter. Missed it altogether first time through the game. Aside from that, you could get by quite nicely even if you'd given him all your weapons, IIRC.
