I have Sapphire HD3870 and Thief TMA works fine WITHOUT DDfix... You say it is needed? Well I didn't run into any problems so far and I play regular basis...
Btw. KuBiLaY17, Crysis on my card run at 1280x1024 with dx10 emulation on WIN XP on Ultra High almost perfectly, so I don't think that 8800GT is absolute must, but it's up to you to decide.

Ok It runs without DDfix on yer Sapphire - but your getting the ugly green effect in the shadows...
The HD3xxx cards are good in Dx10, but the 8800GT is still faster for the money but ne never said he is running vista. If KuBiLa wants to play crysis at above 12*10 he will need a the 8800 or better still a HD 4850..

many thanks for the comments, i went to my local shop where i always buy my stuff. They dont have the 8800 card, but they do have the ATI HD3870 card. So i have not yet decided, but i am thinking of the 8800. But since ati doesnt need the ddfix, but it has the ugly shadow thing. I am going to the shop again today, ill let you know what i wll get. Thanks again fellas.
By the way, yes i am not using windows Vista. I use windows xp pro sp2, does it have any negative effect using a DX10 card on a xp machine?

Apart from not being able to use dx10? None that I'm aware of.
Biker: Ugly green effect? Game looks normally to me. As far as I know at least. Apart from Dual Core/Hyperthreading problem and video fix I didn't encounter any problems in TG or TMA on either HD3870 or my previous card - x1950.

Hi Eagle
You CANT not have it, the issue has been present on asll ati cards from the HD2000 upwards and on nvidia cards 8000 and upwards. Your old X1950 was the best old card for thief
Turn up the gamma all the way and you will see the effect - as detailed (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117616) in my thread with over 950 replies on the subject.

I've checked the screenshots in your thread and can say that's something I wouldn't miss. Might be less visible in my case, as soon as I get back home from work I'll check it out. Anyway, thanks for explanation.

hi i have bought the ATI HD3870, they didnt have the Geforce and they could not order because the shop is going to close for ever. And i didnt like ordering from another online shop. Anyway it works great now, but only problem is that my pc has 400watt, and the card needs 450 watt. It didnt give any problems, but is it necessary to buy a new one?
