AS the title states, I am new to the board, and to Oblivion. Actually, its my 1st game of this type, rpg non-shooter. I have it for my PS3, and so far, I am lovin it. I just shut down the gate for Kvatch and I'm fighting to reclaim the city. Anyways, being new and shit, I read thru a few pages of this board, and I am seeing all the mods and shit. Here's a few questions....
Can I move/carry bodies?
What's the terminoligies you all are using? (like NPC?)
Are there any ways to getting more gold to buy new, stronger weapons and such?
Is this "Dark Brotherhood" good to be a part of?
Are there REALLY 115 gates?
Any advice to the NOOB? LOL.
Oh, I jacked a horse, the painted one, well, I ditched it outside a city, well, when I came out, it was gone. I have to go back were I stole it to get another?
On the way to Kvatch, I found this stone, and got this "bound" blade from it, well, I switched to another blade, and this one was gone. So, I restarted from my save (was saved at the stone) and got it again and went into Kvatch. I noticed it was a bit stronger. Also looked sick, anyways, any possible was I can get this again, and KEEP it?
Just trying to see what all I can get or do. I read about fighting in the arena can build some gold and other prizes as well. Any insight would help. THX!!!
(*already printed a 220 page  strategy guide, and a single, 12 line paragraph was the gate conquer, and the city capture, so the game must be 500+ hours,:thumb: lol*)
Edit: Also went thru the entire Shattered Mines area, killed everything, and taken pretty much what I could...anything affected in future gameplay from this?

Mods are for PC version only.
You can move bodies by Z+clicking.
NPC=Non player character (see urban dictionary or wiki for general rpg abbreviations)
You get gold by finding/looting things and selling them to NPC.
Dark Brotherhood is considered to have most entertaining quest line.
Yes, there are 115 gates but there are a much less number that has to be closed. The rest of gates are automaticly closed upon the main quest completion. So before you do it you might consider obtaining sigil stones from all of 115.
Enjoy the game!
You can have any horse but unless it is bought or obtained through a quest it is considered stolen so you get bounty for it and thus chased by city guards.
Those kind of stones are all around Cyrodiil. They temporarily cast armor on you. Except the doomed stone I guess which has no such effect (correct me if Im wrong).
To fight in arena you have to join fighters guild (correct me again)
P.S.
The game really grabbed me from the beginning. Even made me start playing Morrowind (TES III) upon Oblivion completion. Again, hope you enjoy it. Also, there is a good source for all the hints and spoilers for Oblivion - (

Ah, you know these grant you extra powers when you use them, yes?

AFAIK, there are three types of stone:
The green ones which give you a bound daedric (the best kind) weapon and piece of armour for a limited duration. Bear in mind that the armour's not much good if you don't have the heavy armour skill, the same goes for the weapon if you don't have the appropriate skill.
The red doomstones are dotted around, there's one for each birthsign and they each grant you a greater power (spell that can be used once per day at no magicka cost) but you can only have one at a time, getting another one will replace your current power. You can only activate the stones at night.
The third and rarest kind of stone also grants you greater powers but you can have as many as you want. The catch is that you need to meet certain requirements (fame is the only one I've encountered but there may be others) before you can get them.
Stolen horses will start walking back to the stables as soon as you dismount, so it's a quick getaway or a one-way ride, unless you're quick getting back on. Be careful though because stealing horses carries a pretty hefty bounty, you'll only get caught if you're seen mounting it though so it's always worth sneaking before you mount to make sure no one can see you. If you want to keep a horse, you'll have to buy or be given one. The prices range from, I think, 500 for a Bruma paint horse (the toughest but slowest) to 5000 for a Cheydinhal black (the fastest and thus the best). The one you're given is by far the best as it can't die - it only gets knocked unconscious.
Dungeon raiding is a good way to make money, most of the caves, mines (like shattered mine), forts and ayleid ruins aren't related to any quest - they're there for raiding for profit. Other than the place being empty for a while (they get refilled, I think every three days), you don't have to worry about any consequences for raiding them. Quests are pretty hard to break in Oblivion, provided you don't go on any mass rampages through town killing innocents, you don't really need to worry about consequences.
And welcome to the forums, congratulations on using grammar and not being a dick.

lmao, i try my best.
I have alchemy, heavy armour, blades, destruction, and I forget the other, lol. But, yeh, I like the setup I have, I am running in legion armour, I am in the blades guild, and using a steel longsword. So far so good. I'll get to a better setup later in the game I am certain.

Good call on alchemy, I'd say it's the single best skill, I've yet to make a character without it.

I don't think you do. I can't be sure, as I was already Master of the Fighter's Guild by the time I first stepped into the Arena, but I never got any impression of such a requirement.
Here's what the UESP wiki says about it:
Quote:
To join the gladiatorial ranks, speak to Owyn the Blademaster in the bloodworks. You will always become a member of the Blue Team.
MazDAMN, here's another good source of info if you ever get stuck, a fairly detailed walkthrough, but do beware of spoilers: (

And I'll have to echo ~s:a:n:i:t:y~ on the Dark Brotherhood faction. If you don't mind roleplaying a ruthless murderer, it's a great quest line.

I beg your pardon for uespwiki makes it clear that you can take arena matches without actually joining Fighters guild. My bad. Lost for society since December 3 when I bought WoW, so don't even think you can rely upon my posts any more ^^
And the stones...Oh well, thanks Matt for reminding :)

some of your questions seem pretty stupid to me. why would you rather have someone tell you all this stuff, and not play to find out yourself?
go play it, have fun with it.

Guess old-school approach is not popular these says :(
At times I wish spoiler forums never existed. Yeah, I go to them myself due to solving technical or quest issues but I just wish I had no such option ^^
