If you watch the speedrun on YouTube, there's a way you can actually jump inside the shield and kill you know who in a few seconds ... I have to look again to remember what trick it was.
By the way, it's probably a good idea for you guys to put all this in spoilers, since we have a new player here and all.

You're wrong. The assault rifle can punch through that shield just fine.

Meh, I didn't mention that because the AR can finish just about everything in SS2 without any effort.

Thought so, on my first playthrough I didn't get much in the way of tech skills so I was pretty sure I shot the shield to bits.
