That's no Garrett. It was like a shock to the system watching it.
My 5 year old walked in while I was watching it and I didn't even tell her what I was watching... she said "THAT'S NOT GARRETT, he doesn't even sound like him!". She watched me play THIEF once about 3 years ago. She was 2! And she remembers Garrett's voice like it was yesterday... and she knows this is not him.
I found your petition... I signed it this morning, but fear nothing will change.
What were they THINKING? I won't be spending my money on this garbage.
"But...but...the cutscenes just wouldn't look natural"

Not only is it called chicken, it supposedly has chicken DNA, even.
They have a funny opinion of what Thief's DNA actually is

Thief doesn't have DNA, it's a videogame.

Well said.

And factual to boot.
I can honestly say I've never played a Thief game that had any sort of organic material.

Or just maybe you could give the reboot a chance to be its own separate thing from the originals, and enjoy both for what they are.
He or she has every right to judge nuthief by the original games. If nuthief was called something other than thief then your argument would have merit to it.

Given that the underlying game might not be all that great anyway, I'd rather not see Russel's talents be wasted, even if his voice is far better. Either way, the excuse EM gives is weird. What are they gonna do for all the non-English versions? Waste their budget rerecording the mocap for each language distribution? Just use translated subtitles?
Also, fiercey, you should be proud, your daughter is very intelligent for such a young age. It's not an easy thing to seehear a keeper, especially one which does not wish to be seenfound out for being a phony. ;)

I believe they won't do that.

The Russian version of the game will contain both localized sounds and texts (including CCs). But I'm not sure about the others.

Yeah, she's a pretty smart girl :).

Really? Because when I watched those trailers on Xbox Live yesterday there was no mention of a new voice actor, etc. They were calling him Garrett.
I had to go do some reading to find out that the "chicken" was really a raccoon, even though the neighbor was assuring me it was chicken all along and it was obvious to me that it was not.
Of course, you're looking at it from within the bubble of being a person on these forums on a daily basis and already having been armed with that type of information... I'm coming at it from a perspective of someone seeing/hearing about the new game for the first time and being absolutely shocked at what I saw and heard (and not in a good way).
Anyway, clearly we are not going to agree here.
No, no. I think I see what you're saying. You're saying that the raccoon is Garrett disguised as a chicken, who's being cooked like a goose.
But what about the old Dodge out back? Is that the Dark engine or a Hemi?

It's an ignorant, biased, and irrelevant opinion to assume that any and all change is for the worse.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night ignored most of the conventions of prior Castlevania titles, but it's widely considered one of the best in the franchise. Q.E.D.

Is that your opinion?
By the way, it's not an assumption predicated on zero information but rather having experienced firsthand an affront to my senses. I've enough information now to rightly assume it is swill.
