New THIEF trailer plastered all over XBOX Live. - by fiercey

I logged onto the Xbox yesterday and THIEF plastered all over the home screen.
Oh, this game... 13 years ago a co-worker introduced this game to me on PC. I remember that moment like it was yesterday. From the shadows came THAT VOICE... it reached inside me and grabbed on tight.
So I haven't been a member here for a LONG time... they removed my account because I hadn't posted in forever. I didn't know a new THIEF was coming until yesterday.
I clicked on the trailer, eagerly waiting to see what was going to happen. Honestly didn't think Garrett would be mentioned, figured his story line was done.
Ugh.
That's no Garrett. It was like a shock to the system watching it.
My 5 year old walked in while I was watching it and I didn't even tell her what I was watching... she said "THAT'S NOT GARRETT, he doesn't even sound like him!". She watched me play THIEF once about 3 years ago. She was 2! And she remembers Garrett's voice like it was yesterday... and she knows this is not him.
I found your petition... I signed it this morning, but fear nothing will change.
What were they THINKING? I won't be spending my money on this garbage.

Your daughter sounds AMAZING! Can she come over and watch me play video games?

I would say "yes" except for that part about saying "no". She is amazing.

I suggest you get over it, play some other games and then forget about Thief then.

Or just maybe you could give the reboot a chance to be its own separate thing from the originals, and enjoy both for what they are.

I agree, this is my approach to most things. I usually eat chicken for dinner, but if I see my neighbor frying a dead raccoon on his engine block and he offers me some, I'm going to try it. For one it would be rude to turn him down, but I've never even had fried raccoon roadkill before. I might end up enjoying it.

The problem here, as I see it, is your neighbor is frying up dead raccoon roadkill and trying to SELL it to you, telling you it's chicken.

No...I thought the neighbor was pretty up-front about the raccoon.

Really? Because when I watched those trailers on Xbox Live yesterday there was no mention of a new voice actor, etc. They were calling him Garrett.
I had to go do some reading to find out that the "chicken" was really a raccoon, even though the neighbor was assuring me it was chicken all along and it was obvious to me that it was not.
Of course, you're looking at it from within the bubble of being a person on these forums on a daily basis and already having been armed with that type of information... I'm coming at it from a perspective of someone seeing/hearing about the new game for the first time and being absolutely shocked at what I saw and heard (and not in a good way).
Anyway, clearly we are not going to agree here.

Not only is it called chicken, it supposedly has chicken DNA, even.
