Seems to be a fork of Open Dark Engine, which hasn't had a commit in 8 years. Are you Joseph D Viviano? If so, why did you fork instead of just taking over? ODE was abandoned, but everybody in the community knows about it.

just look at all those recent comits though... last three months
i particularly liked the look of the water and spatial audio sections
i wish i was Joseph D Viviano... looks like he might be quite talented
plus it's cross-platform

Yes it's a vibe-coded fork of OPDE with the git history inexplicably dropped. When I last looked at it a few months ago it had made some "interesting" changes.
From what I've seen it's goal isn't really gameplay compatibility or reproduction of the original Dark. Partly because that's not what the author is interested in, and partly because they don't have enough familiarity with how Dark works to replicate it.

This seems entirely vibe coded. I can understand having a fork though given the original OpenDark is a dead project, that being said, has the git history been dropped? That's not good news. :tsktsk:
I should not say too much, but I have too, been designing a "open" implementation of the engine. Ironically, I have not released the source code yet for contributions as it is not ready to be shown to the world.
With the announcement of the remaster, which we can assume is within the KEX Engine, I must wonder if an alternative is still something worst investing time in. It can be a good learning exercise anyways. :idea:
