I'm starting to hate that rat. I learned through the development phase I had to set him at neutral to keep him from running off. However, I think he will still run if startled by combat. He will book it all over town too. All I did was move a bounding box and now he won't path at all, so I'm putting him on a leash. After the next update he will have no path and will be stationed [spoiler] just inside the park entrance [/spoiler]
That said, he's there every time for me if there isn't combat nearby. If you have more mission to play, perhaps leave him and you will either see him frolicking around town, or perhaps he will reset. I'll update here when its patched.

Just finished this was a very good mission I enjoyed it!! I missed several of the secrets so I'll play again soon.

Thanks for the rat tale. I just reinstalled and started over. I went straight to the gazebo area. No rat. I'll just wait for your new release in a few days.

oops. its [spoiler] I think 2 is under the hotel. There are 4 ways to get down there, but the easiest is through the maintenance office. Look in a container for a switch. Once down there, it's pretty easy to follow the lights to get to each entrance/exit for the other rooms that have access. Just in case I'm wrong on the books, the other two are in the library book collection box and in the lower museum area [/spoiler]

With the rats all you have to do is make them deaf and blind. Making them neutral won't hurt. I had to shoot any that ran away from me. :D

The bar switch indeed raises one of the wooden shelves, revealing some loot.
Concerning book 2: One can find the library book collection box in the rooms below ground level. To access this area, one needs a key. It might be in the house where the librarian lives; there's a written complaint in the library giving hints as to where that location is.
