Well, I got the star onto the top of the christmas tree.....completed most of the tasks, but the mission ended when I went back to the inn and found my presents!
One of the most enjoyable missions I have ever played!

The only thing that felt off was Garrett robbing everyone, the mood just wasn't right. I thought you might get to spend the money on something like a donation or just giving them away, it would have been more in the spirit of the FM.

Oh I feel the same way. Actually I replayed the adventure one day later, this time without picking up any unnecessary items (=loot), hoping for a secret achievement (like in Mission X). Maybe that can be put in a DML or something? Would be great to get a little feedback for that. But at least there is no loot requirement and I still felt good going about that way.
I like your idea of "collecting" for a donation though, channeling Garrett's inner Robin Hood for once :)

I came here to remind everyone to play Yandros' A Thief's Holiday, but then I was very surprised to see this mission! :D I'll have to play it after we eat. Thanks Tannar!
Hi John! We hope you enjoy it!

And do I get a bonus for unofficual 5th good deed -
Brilliant little mission, very detailed, lots of eye/ear candly and the narration and intro/outro's were second to none! Very well done chaps!
Nice idea, lol! Sadly we didn't think of it so no bonus in the mission but we'll grant you an unofficial bonus for the good deed. Glad you enjoyed it, look forward to playing yours!

I don't usually comment on FMs I finish, but I just had to for this one.
Played right after we finished Christmas dinner with my family. This mission joined Tokyo Godfathers as my favourite Christmas themed media. I don't think I know of anything else that can get you in the proper mood for the holidays, this will be a wonderful tradition to replay just before Christmas Eve in the years to come. I love missions that focus more on the adventure elements of Thief. Exploring and finding a hidden nook is cool, but when the only thing you find in there is a piece of loot, I can't help but feel the reward aspect of my hard hunting is a bit lacking. But when you find an item that can be used for an objective tied to a story or a secret - that's so much better. And the mini stories were wonderful, I think this is the first FM I got teared up a bit while playing (very rare for me even outside of FMs). Wonderful personal stories that reminded me a bit of Lady Rowena's signature storytelling style. The atmosphere was amazing - the sounds, music, songs, posters, decorations (even in less immediately noticeable places), references, jokes and secrets - all of them were absolutely impeccable.
The only thing that felt off was Garrett robbing everyone, the mood just wasn't right. I thought you might get to spend the money on something like a donation or just giving them away, it would have been more in the spirit of the FM.
Thank you for the wonderful Christmas present. Its so nice that the Thief community is still going strong and making perhaps it's best output yet, even if the quantity of missions is down compared to the heydays. When we get a new mission I always wonder if this is going to be the last one from the authors, hope we see more from Pukey and Tanner in the future (and in this more adventure driven style).
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and get to enjoy a great New Years Eve as well, taffers!
Thank you for taking the time to post and to share your thoughts. We are very happy you enjoyed the mission so much! We're especially glad to hear that you enjoyed the story telling and we agree with you about the reward for exploring. Glad (and sorry, lol) that it made you tear up. : ) We actually discussed how it felt out of place to have Garrett stealing in this mission, which is one of the reasons there was no loot goal. We also wanted to accommodate as many play styles as possible so left that up to the player. Also, there simply wasn't time to implement a donation or "robin hood-like" reward and still release before Christmas. But we appreciate your thoughts and will keep it in mind. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas as well, and have a happy New Year's as well!

Thanks for your comments, it's a good idea. See our response above. We will discuss the idea of including it in an update or a DML.

Finished on: Ho!
The ending was great! I need to get back in there and find more loot though.

It feels weird giving my thoughts in text form...
-The mission is indeed really cozy. Very fun silly jokes, and also heartwarming feels.
-Tiny Tim is the Blackadder Tiny Tim!
-I thought there would be an ultra bonus objective for also dropping Tiny Tim's half-eaten fruitcake chunk into the pit - because who knows, it might split itself and grow back into an army of them. Alas.
-As I was traipsing around town trying to find Liesl's house, I ended up laughing in spite of myself - here I was, strolling around town in a black hood and cloak with an unconscious kid over my shoulder - I mean I'm doing a good deed, but try convincing anyone of that!
-You know pukey brunster's involved when we get those wonderful weird old advertisements. I especially liked the subtle humor of the poster saying they use no harmful food colorings in their candy, and then ten feet away is another poster advertising "tri-color crackers". Hmm.
-Loved the heart growing three sizes note.
-Also the "immaculate contraction" joke was wonderfully stupid (and I mean that in the best possible way).
-For hours I just had looping in my head, "I saw three ships come sailing in..." They just want to make sure Garrett doesn't miss any part of the song by restarting it every time he comes near. So considerate!
-I had trouble putting the star on the tree. I did some crazy rope shenanigans by putting one rope on the high beam and then another short length of rope on top of the tree, and jumping to it. From what I read apparently I could have just reached the tree top from the beam rope? Ah well.
-Breaking into someone's apartment, stealing their letter, and mailing it without their permission? Good deed. Rescuing a lost orphan child from the sewers and bringing her home? Not a good enough deed. Come on, if you want into the ice garden, you gotta start trying, man.
-After I started finding more sugar plumsies throughout the mission, it occurred to me what would happen if I ate the first one before using it for the headache potion, so I reloaded to find out, but it turns out the first one was a non-consumable quest item. Drat. Good design wins again.
-I love missions where Garrett is a softie. He'll never tell Basso he did any good deeds, he'll just act tough and cynical and pretend it was a total chore.
-The whole fruitcakes side plot was hilarious, and the reward even more so. One thing I thought of later but didn't try was trying to fall into the pit just as it filled in with Christmas cheer to see if I could get stuck or something.
-What's algebrey (algebra?) and how would you use it to throw a giant fruitcake down a chute?
That's all I can recall off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more. Anyway, I loved it. :thumb:

I spent at least 30 minutes looking for the right spot
to drop the kid. I ended up dropping the kid by the town Christmas tree while I looked for the house and trying to remember all the readables and if I missed or just forgot the clue. I stopped playing last night and then picked up where I left off and found the right spot fairly quickly with a fresh mind. Pretty awesome mission overall.
