Regarding the ending: It was a little disappointing that SHODAN disappeared from the game after leaving the station. And aside from the avatar attack, you never really get a sense that she's working against you. Mostly it's just harmless little snarky comments.

ZylonBane -
I though it would make no sense to let the player destroy Ponterbee Station, if Shodan is in the colony, too.
Maybe it's just because I allready have some ideas for a sequel in my head...
Reactor.....wow. I agree with ZB on this one, that thing is awesome!
ZylonBane thinks something is awesome? I have to check this out now.

What, like you needed another reason? It's a gigantic, fully-complete campaign!

I've gotten the chance to play for several hours on Ponterbee Station, and here's what I think:
I think that the weapons, upgrades, supplies, etc. are very well balanced. I find myself begging for a power station and holding out until I just barely find one as my implants and powered armor run out. Cyber modules seem to be plentiful enough to upgrade in a timely manner but are not excessive. Great!
Monster placement is good, although so far it has been too easy. I haven't died yet or run out of ammo, no broken weapons, etc. On the contrary, some setups are very well executed. For example, around one corner was a shotgun hybrid, who when I saw him, I chased after with my wrench. When I started whacking him around, a camera spotted me and a monkey came around the corner, so I had to turn and run. A couple situations like this made the experience worth it in themselves!
The level design is solid and clean. Attention to detail is present. I hate to say it, but some areas are so similar to the VonBraun decks (Medsci areas, hydro areas) that they almost look like they were copied brush for brush. I can see where the inspiration comes from - perhaps that's why so many people feel so comfortable, because it just feels so much like the original SS2 missions.
Details such as fish in the "pond" on hydro and the new models, monsters, objects, etc. are much appreciated and add some uniqueness to the whole experience. There are some great ideas put into play here!
Pros:
Gameplay balanced and fun
Detailed and polished presentation
Has audio logs and good notes
New objects, monsters, and "stuff" :)
Player has a sense of progression
Plenty of levels to play!
Cons:
Too many "find the key" then "find the next key" objectives (enforced)
Level design could be more varied (less like a Von Braun clone)
Seems a little too easy
No areas/objectives that you can do "just for fun"
A little too predictable (more fresh content/level design would help!)
Botton line: Don't let any of the cons scare you off - you will enjoy these missions! Download now and have fun! I hope to see more from Christine (but please just don't put me on a spaceship! There's so much potential for ... !!)

Christine.....you.....you.....You have a working Talon Droid! :wot: I LOVE YOU!!!!!
*sees everyone staring*
:o
Ahem.
Oh, and I liked the fish as well. Although I didn't know Goggles liked sushi..... ;)
And thank you very much for the laser rapier on Hydro. Is this possibly an homage to SS1, as the only rapier in that game is on the third level?
BTW, the robot trap on Ops was very nicely done. I was just barely able to get through it melee-only on Easy with 78 HP. :thumb:

The that spot was another screamer moment for me. I went to walk into that room, looked around, and thought that it bore an awfully suspicious resemblence to Shodan's death machine on the Reactor level in SS1. Figured it was just a coincidence, kept walking through the room, then had 4 'bots on me out of nowhere. Luckily, that time around, I didn't scream loud enough to draw attention to myself. I started cursing like a sailor, but that's not all that uncommon when I'm gaming.

I knew there was something familiar about that room! Come to think of it, it also reminds me of
the spider trap next to Sim Unit 3.Enchantermon

Yeah there were a few spots that were amazingly bot-heavy. Fortunately I was playing a laser pistol whore (at one point I think I had five of them), so the combat bot mobs weren't TOO hard to wipe out.
If I had to pick one criticism, it'd be that a lot of areas looked very "samey". In some parts, after a bit of combat, I literally couldn't tell which direction I'd come from. And the mall... yikes. Seemed to have about the same number of shops as the Rickenbacker mall, but spread out over ten times as much space. And it all looked so cookie-cutter that it was really easy to get lost. A few fountains or murals would have broken the space up nicely. Maybe even a directory.

I prefer the laser rapier, because if you get up close and personal with the bots, they won't fire back unless they're up against a wall.
I did have fun with one in the mall, though. He was pretty far away, so I shot him with the laser pistol on Overload and then ducked behind a wall. When I peeked out to see if he had decided to come after me, he was still in the same spot, and had turned
away from me! So, I stepped out and shot him again. He didn't turn around. Again. Now, he turned and fired at me, but since he was so far away, I easily dodged. I fired again. He fired again. I ducked, and when I came back, a grenade hybrid decided to step in front of the robot and my laser pistol. Killed him with one shot, then finished off the robot. :ebil:

Yeah. The mall and that one twisty-corridor part in Ops. Kind of confusing.

I also agree here. More shops would have been nice. They would also have helped with the navigation issue.
