You cannot unzip everything into the patch-folder. MIS-files need to be placed in the SS2-root-dir (to override originals). Which gives us the problem of Christine's MIS-files named like the original ones as we discussed on (

you can place the mis files inside /patch, its just they get overriden by the orional files in the root dir if they share the same name.
There is no need to have the same nameas the OMs in your missions though, if you really want to have the player go through earth.mis training you can include a renamed one yourself, and use first_level mymis.mis to get it loaded.
The levels the elevator goes to can be changed in gamesys parameters, so there is absolutly no need to ever use the same names as the OMs, which adds the need to backup etc.
Use /patch/cutscene for the cutscenes, and change the install.cfg cutscene path to that to avoid having to backup those large files.

My wife and I played through the Med/Sci deck (and were quite impressed); but when we tried to move to Engineering with the elevator, the game got stuck in an infinite load loop.
Is there a problem with multiplayer in this, or did we stupidly ask for a deck that isn't there?

@ d0om - the easiest way is to install it with Garrettloader, it will backup your files and install the fanmissions: (

@ James Sterrett - I don't know if it works in multiplayer. I have no internet access on the computer, where I built it.
The engineering-deck is there. I placed 4 landingpoints and the MultiplayerRespwan-Marker in each level. Is there anything else, that I must add for multiplayer?

"Is there anything else, that I must add for multiplayer?"
I have no clue! :)
We'll try again and see how it goes. If it consistently hangs on the transition, we'll try moving from level to level in single player, then loading the SP save into MP. I've got no idea if that will work, either.

That probably won't work. I don't know the mechanics of it, but I'm pretty sure you can't use single-player saves in a multiplayer game.

Looks like the problem is local, and not with the missions.
After moving to a new level, Shock2 hangs as/after it tries to save.
So we are veeery careful to make a save before getting on the elevator and try to save right away after traveling on it....
And we love the rubber duck room. :D I'm the OSA spook this time, and I tried (and failed) to freak Corinne out by making the duckies move around past her with psi pull. :)

This sounds more like the rather common crashes on level transitions that you also get in the regular game. Glad it's not beyond playability.

I'm glad that it works :D
...I wish my husband would play SS2, but he even isn't interest in computers. Oh well, I have to wait till my daughter is old enough to play SS2 :p ;)
