Look, maybe some of the logs don't measure up to the ones in SS2 when it comes to acting, but
give these people a break! They're
volunteers, not professionals! I didn't hear any logs that totally broke the immersion for me by making me think: "Woh, thatz relly bad axting lolol!!!11"
The voice acts in Ponterbee are as close to professional as amateurs can get!
BTW I was quite impressed when I learned that a major part of the voice actors of the original SS2 were actually TTLG employees.

Cool off a little, dude. You've got some really good ideas, so why don't you learn ShockED and make your own fan campaign? If nothing else, it will give you a better understanding and appreciation for Christine, blaydes99, Doc 4, icemann, and anyone else who has contributed to level design using ShockED.
I second that but I doubt that guy will ever raise his bottocks to get in touch with that annoying thing called reality.

6. When I played, I didn't presume to go down to engineering first, thus, I went all over the place, even though I found a log warning about creatures all over the ship. So to fix that,
"
Fix" it? There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. It gives the player freedom to make mistakes, which makes things more realistic, and they'll probably find the information that they need to get whether or not they need to look for it.

And hire an acting coach :thumb:
This is a free FM we're talking about here! Why should Christine spend her own money for something as stupid as that? Some of those voice actors are very experienced, very talented people. They don't need any help. (And I'm not talking about myself, I'd never get an ego that out of control, I'm thinking of people like Slyfoxx and lizanneh.)

:joke: I triple that, but I hold the same opinion as you, I doubt he's going to bother with reality . . . ;)

umm ... I dont understand?!
I mean, many of them were no professional voice actors but coders and designers.
TheNightTerror on 23/9/2005 at 15:19
I should've been clearer. :erm: You meant to say Looking Glass Studios, or LGS. They're the company that made SS2. TTLG, or Through The Looking Glass, is just a site dedicated to them. Sorry about that.

Oops, tks for clearing this up.

Heh, nice try. Nope, Im really talking of LGS guys and gals. You can see their mugs in the credits.avi.
Harvester on 23/9/2005 at 22:33
Umm, those guys are employees of Irrational Games, not Looking Glass. Irrational Games actually made the game, Looking Glass only oversaw production or something like that.
Zygoptera on 23/9/2005 at 22:44
Both LGS and Irrational made the game- to check who did what have a look at the credits in the manual. The original voice acting consists almost entirely (one person not, IIRC) of LGS/Irrational employees from Ken Levine and Jon Chey on down. Irrational gets the biggest design credit because the design leads (KL and JC) were from Irrational.

oohh only just found this, downloading :)
(BTW does everyone know the new way to install SS2 FMs, by unzipping into the /patch dir and setting first_level in the user.cfg to the first .mis file of the pack? saves overwriting or backing up anything at all.. or needing to do any "mod friendly" malarky)
