it wasnt even me who thought to name him dobby. someone in the thread mentioned it and i liked it. i looked around at the dog later and when i called "dobby", he barked only once, and never again at the name. he comes to me already when i call. it was strange. but i figure if the dogs gonna be dobby, the orange cat might as well be crookshanks. :p

Call him Dobby. It just seems fitting. I don't know why, it just does.
It was
I who thought of the name! On the third reply of the first page.:D

Gorgonseye first suggested Dobby. He was right. Your puppy just looks like a Dobby. I think Crookshanks would be cool. My orange cat is Pumpkin...really original, I know, but that is how he looks. My orange & white boy is Sylvester, and boy is he one dumb kitty, but very sweet. His littermates got all the brains. He got looks & pure sweetness.

Cats generally tend to react to names that end on "i".

Let's see. I've got Herman, Rhea, Mittens, Moxie, Pumpkin, Corey, Sophia, Sylvester, Pickles. Except for Sylvester, they all know their names. Sylvester is really not bright. He kinda figures if nobody else responds, then I must be calling him. I've heard that about "i" & "e" names before, but I've never had a problem with any names.
I think cats tend to meet your expectations of them. I expect all mine to know their names, use the litterbox, not be finicky, eat their dry food, not scratch the sofa. They're all good cats. I used to cat sit for a friend. She always talked about how picky her cat was. When Tinkerbell stayed with us, she was just like the others, no problems at all. She knew I don't put up with crap. You eat your food or everyone else will & you'll be hungry. I think it has a lot to do with how you view your cats, too. Mine are family.

you have a lot of cats.
ive noticed that cats seem to become what they are named. for instance, my neighbors cat "bruiser", whos daughter named after her schools mascot, is the spawn of hell. If anyone is in the house even near the thing it spits and hisses, trying to attack your ankles. But their other cat "prissy" walks around on her nails everywhere she goes and is constantly cleaning herself and showing off. Wierd how it works.
and thank you gorgonseye:)

Like I said, I find that cats usually live up to our expectations of them. I had an 18 lb black cat named Cat-tasthrophe. He terrorized the neighborhood. He killed his first squirrel @ 5 months old. He once brought home half of a huge water moccasin. And his ultimate coup was killing a small dog that attacked me. I was in my early teens back then. I also had one cat named Loki. You can't imagine what troubles he caused. Cats are endlessly entertaining.

My god this thread has taken a terrifying (if not entirely surprising) turn.
