well, ive named him dobby...he did chew up my girlfriends shoe however, but im still trying to figure out if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
Yep, he looks like a Dobby. Don't say that to your girlfriend about her shoes! If you said that to me, I'd beat you with the chewed shoe. :p

im also thinking about getting a kitten. if what people tell me is correct, if you raise dogs and cats together they get along better? comments? Id like to get one so id better do it now.
It is better to raise cats & dogs together when they're young. If you wanted to wait a little longer, you could. Many adult dogs will accept a kitten with no problem. Adult cats can be tricky. Also, if you get a kitten, keep him in a separate area for a few days. Keep kitten in a carrier at first until Dobby calms down. That will allow them to get used to each other's smell without any accidents like scratches or bites. A puppy can accidentally injure a kitten in play, so supervise them until you're sure they'll be OK. If you take enough time in the beginning, you will have buddies for life. I had 3 cats that used to sleep on my Collie's side when she was napping outside in the sun.

If it's at all possible, find a kitten that lived its first few weeks with a dog around, things will go a lot smoother. My two youngest cats (who were littermates) were around a dog since they were born, and they simply treated my dog like a new buddy when they were introduced. Of course, that didn't get around the fact that my dog thought they were either fast food or a new toy, but they got along a lot better once everyone was used to each other.

where the heck did you meet some cows?
A farmer's field, a barn, the local bar?

That puppy is gorgeous!. So sweet. I want one. )
Cows do have personality. If you heard them when thy take their calf away it is horrendous.
I eat nothing with eyes..... Apart from potatoes.:laff:

I miss having puppies around, they are a blast. I hate you for you're joy.

I'll have to disagree on the cows having personality. I went on vacation to a dude ranch once and got to watch them herd the cows. A calf came up to its mother to get some milk, and the mother preceded to lift it tail and take a crap on the calf. Not the hard stuff, either, but torrents of it with a slushy substance. The poor calf was covered. Then the mother cow preceded to "wash him off" by pissing all over him. If cows have personality, they surely don't have souls.

DATS RACIST or specie-ist or whatever
You're judging the species by the actions of an individual. For all you know that was the craziest cow alive. I'm pretty sure cows have personalities, most people just don't spend enough time with them to realize (that or because they appear stupid in general).

Cows have herd mentality. Pigs have intelligence and personality more so than dogs and still they get eaten. I'm trying to convince my Uncle to get a dog. Then maybe I'd have someone who will listen to me:(
