That's why I suggested updating the bios to ensure that there aren't any known bugs that are now fixed regarding the voltage measurement and should have the side-effect of resetting settings.

I did update it to the latest BIOS version, which did reset everything except the system time/date. It's not really changed anything, but at least the patch notes read, 'improved system stability'. Very informative, that.
