Hi, I am fourteen, and thus I am a bit too young to have seen much of System Shock. However, with news of Bioshock, I took out an old copy of SS2 my recently deceased father had bought a while back, and I played it.
And it was lovely.
I beat the entire game, read all the logs, everything. I've downloaded SS1 Portable, and I'm even setting up a System Shock 2 role-playing game at my school using the Dungeons and Dragons ruleset as a base.
And then it happened...
I was taking the game with me to Oregon, getting set to extract all of the cutscenes, logs, and data, when I dropped the disc, and it got run over by a wheelchair. The disc completely shattered. It was a rather ridiculous idea to take it to another state, but now it is gone and I am quite distraught. I'm hunting the net for every little scrap of data I can find that I can use, but there are some things I'm having issues with. First, I cannot find a site with all of the emails you recieve- I have all of the logs, but not the emails. Second, while I understand that distributing the game is illegal, I was curious about cutscenes. Is there any way for me to acquire the starting and ending cutscenes (legally) without having to buy another copy? And lastly, are there any maps out there of the floors I can use for our RPG game, because most walkthroughs aren't too informative.
Thank you for your time and patience.
Cheers,
Ross

I'm sorry to hear about the unfortunate situation, but I highly doubt there is a legal way to get any of the SS2 data. You have to hunt for another copy in the online stores or in the bargain bins I'm afraid. :erm:

Your late father's SS2 disc was run over by a wheelchair?
Bjossi on 27/12/2006 at 21:36
Maybe the kid was in the wheelchair and ran over the disc himself, heh.

The thing is Bjossi, is if that's true, it's not terribly funny. =/

If that were true, then he wasn't telling the truth which would mean yet another attempt to get the game for free...

Well, if I was really serious about getting the gme for free, I'd be downloading it off an abandonware site right now. Which I considered, and then turned down. And I mean one of those power wheelchair things at the airport- you know, the ones they use to cruise down the long corridors? Eh, more like transports I suppose. The game slipped out of the paper sleeve, rolled on its side a ways and got smashed by the old lady driving the damn thing. Oh well. Hmm, an Ebay-ing I shall go.
And still, anyone know where to get the emails?

Meh. I culd probably get it off Ebay for less. And since I'm also trying to support a Warhammer 40,000 collection, every penny counts.

$7.50 US (not counting shipping) for what amounts to two copies is pretty cheap.
