Cheers. I've now installed float 32, Bardak's fix, Stalker Skies and the Realism graphics mod. The game is amazingly atmospheric, and running around at night makes me quite anxious in this game.
Stalker Skies changes atmosphere somewhat as it features occasional clear sky and sun for areas where they shouldn't be. F.e. Dark Valley or Yantar or Red Forerst. They're supposed to be gloomy always. So I wouldn't use the mod at least during first run-through. Don't know what's realism graphics mod.
As for anxiousness, just wait till you descend undergrounds ;) Those labs are creepy as hell.

But it doesn't make sense that in Yantar, Pripyat and Red Forest there is always so bright sky like during a day and when I get back to other areas in the middle of the night, there is surprisingly a a normal night.

Okay, so patch to 1.0004, bardak's fix and float32 then the game's good to go? I think that's my port of call this weekend as I'll be flying solo for the most part.

Don't know about float as I played with static lighting, but with 1.0004+bardak's fix I finished the game for the second time without any problems except 1 random crash to Windows. About 50-70 hours I think, I slowly replayed it during 2 months ;)

Where is the bardak fix? I can't find it.
I've installed the float32 fix as I will be playing dynamic lighting.

Sorry, maybe it's not clear, I'm extremely lazy. Whatever fix is deemed nearly necessary to play the game comfortably, effectively and closest (hopefully) to how the developers imagined it should be played is what I'm after. And precise download links, not links to multipage threads. Sorry, I'm just not that keen.

Then you'll be just fine with 1.0004 I think, as you'll need to find and read how to properly deal with fix for real weapons names in bardak's patch.
PS: The patch doesn't change game in any way, it only fixes some developer's errors (not critical, except Prypat perhaps - Bardak's fix readme says that game still may crash in Prypat under some circumstances on 1.0004 without his fix), the only thing it changes content-related compared with original game - weapon names.
