It's been a while since, but I tried the demo out but stopped when I came upon a fuse that, I suppose, I needed to plug in back at the very beginning, backtracking through the air ducts and boring stuff like that. Uncool. Is that true? Does the game get any better?

Sadly, no. I've made further progress in this game, and can honestly say that the game does not get any better. It looked like it might pick up a bit when I got to drive a tank, but I was rewarded with a less entertaining version of the Strider sequence from Half-Life 2: Episode 2. Currently I'm in a rematch with the first boss baddie, but I have no clue what to do there.
