To be honest, I'm really content with almost everything. I would have to say the only things still bothering me is: the shroud, contextual movement (which ties into why rope arrows suck), the reboot (I want to play a pure sequel, though I've loooked very closely at the narrative consistencies and it's actually a reboot and a sequel simultaneously. So I am semi happy I can play it this way, just hope the story is great), and Stephen Russel (though I hated the new guy at first, I kinda liked him after hearing him when he picks up the Heart of the Lion jewel. I thought he had a calm coolness like Johnny Depp in his voice). That doesn't leave much to not be happy about. The contextual movement is the big one.

From what I saw, I'm afraid I don't like the hands. And although I don't mind the new voice, I can't hear what he says clearly. Perhaps the music won't be drowning him out in-game.

@sNeaksieGarrett
Everything you said about the hands was spot on and also gave me a good laugh. They're over used. I don't want to get annoyed picking up loot because of that animation. I agree with you that the hands aren't bad on walls, lockpocking, opening/closing doors, whatever, but it's bad design having them up while they're inactive. In real life you're gonna have your hands move all about your body in different stances. Usually when you crouch they're gonna be somewhere on your upper legs.

It's looking fairly promising to me. One thing I do not like is the separate lean and swipe animation for Garrett every time you pick up another piece of loot. A desk full of goodies and Garrett might as well be at the wailing wall.
It wouldn't be as bad if the camera didn't move with the hand like that every time.
It does look like they fixed the annoying door handle thing, though. (Where he turns it and then let's go BEFORE opening it.)

At about 4:19 in this video (
http://tvgry.pl/?ID=4083), it looks like the player leans out from the shadows into a brightly lit passage, and yet the light gem stays completely black. So for all the over the top body awareness they are constantly throwing at the player, apparently thrusting half of your torso into a bright light source is only visible to the player. :nono:
:Edit: After watching the rest of the video, it seems the light gem remains black almost the entire time anyway. Plenty of instances where the environment around the player is clearly lit and instances where Garrett is standing directly in front of light sources on the desks he is currently interacting with, yet somehow the game still deems him Invisible.
Looks to me like the game only (or perhaps mostly) uses Garrett's feet to calculate light on the player. Standing in front of the desk where the candle doesn't cast light on the floor keeps Garrett invisible, even though the entire top half of his body is in the light. However move over to the left where the candle casts light on the floor in front of the desk, and the light gem glows. This would also explain leaning into light, while remaining hidden, and quite a few other oddities in detection throughout the video.

I can't imagine a good excuse for such a sloppy implementation of a core game mechanic.

I wouldn't consider it sloppy, I'd consider it completely planned out that way to simplify the mechanic for a modern audience. They are used to entirely third person stealth mechanics, where light isn't even a factor. So in most young gamers minds (see retards), using cover and leaning should keep the player completely invisible while surveying around corners, or over walls. They are able to do that in all of the "stealth" games they know, because all of them use third person cover mechanics with a hovering undetectable camera.
Perhaps the mechanic changes as part of the difficulty, but with the way EM is with "minor" details, I'm assuming we won't know until we get true Thief fans playing the game.

Ok, then until we get
any Thief fan playing the game, we won't know. Because to not have a single preview mention that you can lean into the light while remaining hidden behind the corner you're leaning out of, is a pretty major oversight IMO. Discredits everyone who has played the game up to this point.

You did not have to correct yourself for "wannabee thief fans". The previews had major oversights because made by any thief fan.
