Replaying Thief Gold and I've noticed the first few missions severely limit your gear.
Has anyone ever modified the original missions with better starting gear, maybe altering things a bit to encourage more ghosting opportunities?
Seems like having moss arrows and flash bombs would at least give people some more tools.
You can argue rope arrows should be excluded, but the early missions aren't designed with any obvious rope anchor points anyways, so it shouldn't really change things, and lock picks are obviously off the table due to in game events.

its called don't use any gear, unless a piece is needed to complete mission = completed that back in early 2000's for thief 1/g/2

Nah I'm not here to debate the merits of it, you can play however you want and the missions are certainly complete-able as they are, just not much fun for ghost play style.
Unless there's some reason in the story line as to why Garret doesn't have access to moss arrows and flash bombs early on, I don't see a problem in adding them.
I'm mainly looking to see if anyone has already implemented such QOL changes, so I'm not wasting my time trying to figure out the dark editor myself, not in any way open to debating whether it's a good idea outside of existing lore.

Can't really go around flash bombing if you're trying to ghost a level.

i found the om's way to easy on hardest setting, i end up collecting all gear to see what i got at end of mission
now if you talking fan mission would be cool if there was a shop page where everything is available but you limited on loot to buy stuff so you can get less of the better items/gas arrows/rope arrows, mine/gas mines so the player can pick there load out, but not sure fan mission authors would want to add a premade shop before start of mission that is universal for all fan missions
did that make any sense? captain Davidson was in port recently and of course i had to go see him
so basically a premade shop with different amounts of loot depending on difficulty but everything is possible to get, just more limited on harder settings
of course i would buy shadow jack and grappling hook arrows that stick to all surfaces, i don't think i would need anything else :P, ohh i forgot that one magic staff that shoots balls of magic to hit switched anywhere visible, for those puzzle type missions, and it blows up undead and drops haunts quickly, so three items
ofcourse in a dream world i could buy dewdrop from starting shop, and a box of healing fruit just cause i like them more then healing potions, only damage i usually get is fall damage from exploring
ohh and all mandatory items like lockpicks

True, but not really the point. The idea is to open things up to more playstyles, not force you to ghost if you don't want to.
