For some reason it is tied into the the search function, so it should become available once the index has been rebuilt.

This thing has a calendar, now? With birthdays on? Woo! When will it start waking me at 7.00 with coffee?
I like the new look. It'll take a little getting used to, but I'm sure it'll come. The thing I notice most is that TTLG used to look...flatter. All these little borders, with their impressions of being 3D, make TTLG seem to pop out of the page. Right now, it seems like a bit of a distraction, as though I'm distanced somehow. Eh, it'll pass. It's probably an illusion, but I can't shake the feeling that we now have massive borders running down each side of the page. If I could find a screenie from before the move, I could check, but it's not really important.
Anyway, great job, guys. We'll be settled in in a couple of days.

Nicely done David, hopefully you got that sleep you were so desperately seeking.
I like the approach to the forum at the moment, things seem to be flowing better and of course vb3 is a pretty good version.

Now that I've entered the forums through a different door, I have discovered that, indeed, the "View all new posts" button is tied to the search function. So it's not permanently missing.
I like the new look, though it's somehow harsher.
How much of a pain would it be to soften the contrast a bit?

If the font sizes are completely ignored like ZylonBane says... then that really is a Bad Thing. Hopefully it can be fixed or dealt with in some way or another.
And I know this is like beating a dead horse, but since we're talking about the new forums...

Avatars aren't so bad if you put strict physical/byte size limitations on them, and forbid animated avatars.
ZylonBane is right. If those limitations are firmly in place, I also see no problems with having avatars. But I'll leave it at that.

O.o
The old one did, too...

It did? Oh. Can't say I ever noticed it. I suppose I'm on the hunt for new toys now, and I found it. (I knew the day's birthdays were at the bottom of the main forum screen before, but not viewable in advance somewhere else.)
I wonder what else I missed...

When replying to a thread, I noticed that the <i>Preview Post</i> function replaces HTML characters such as &#093; with the characters themselves (in the text box where the reply is typed). Characters such as &amp; are unaffected. I don't actually know if this happened before the upgrade, but if it did then I don't recall it. It is annoying, as a post using this HTML to display '[' and ']' characters to explain use of specific "vB code" tags cannot be previewed without them being converted, creating an actual vB code tag.

For the record, I agree with Zylonbane for the most part; 100x100px at 10-15kb is a limitation that I've seen work well on other fora.
I reckon 32x32 and 1024B would be acceptable, but anything larger would be annoying. The download of a dozen 10-15KB avatars when opening a thread is no fun for people on slower connections.

No avatars!

I will never cease to be amazed by how excited some people can get over copying over and editing some PHP scripts and, on the flipside, a communications board getting a slightly changed layout.
You'd think that the world had just flipped over or something.
