I came on to make the same point that Sluggs has already; which is about the "who's browsing the forum" bit being at the bottom. At first I thought it'd been missed out altogether, and that's the point really: you have to look for who's online. Before you were aware of it immediately, but it's possible now to be on the forum without knowing who else is unless you take the time to check.
It's a bit isolating and lonely really, not the same at all. Any chance of putting it back at the top?
Sorry that was a bit rambling, I always ramble when I feel strongly enough about something.
Other than that THANK GOD THERE'S NO AVATARS!

I'm not sure if it's the glare of this damn LCD monitor that's making everything look really freaky but I hafta' say the new design is somewhat... unique.

We'll be moving the "Who's browsing" and moderators for each forum back to the top sometime this weekend.

Here's a crazy little thought--
On the main forums view page, would it be possible to suppress display of the last-posted thread title for the spoiler forums?

Yes! It is something I am planning to do as I too do not wish for it to be spoiled.
I'm planning to get on it once I have played the demo :D
[Edit] There, all done[/edit]

(I was certain I had sent this off before. I wonder if that says something about the new forums, or merely about my own brain?)
The new look is nice... but I don't like the fact that all the formatting (background colours for the tables, etc.) is stored in an external .css file - that means that every time you save a page without all the associated files, it turns into a flat, white document. :(
Only a very few of the styles would need to be included in each document to fix this.
Also, the new pull-down menus don't work after you save a page without images. Very annoying if you want to find the URL for a user's website from an old post.
Looking at the stuff live is all very well when you have free internet access, but not such a nice thing around here.
I guess I'll just have to start saving everything in .mht format, complete with the 330% filesize that it entails. :nono:

PS: As for Avatars, they're cool, but not really very useful. If it was my forum, I would probably add Avatar support just for the challenege of doing so, but that's another story.
PPS: Hey, the new forum doesn't loose your message when it tells you have to wait 30secs to post again! (Down from 60secs, too)

It saves loads of bandwidth tho. And the file is cached by the client, so the pages should display even faster after the first visit.

I really hate to say this, but I got that silly CGI error message again (about the application misbehaving because it returned an incomplete set of headers).
I thought the upgrade would have taken care of it (and I'm sure y'all did too).
Has anyone else gotten it since vB3?
