No.
Then, why calling fried potatoes "pommes"?
ZylonBane on 12/8/2007 at 23:28
Because that's what they are. Pomme frites are Belgian-style french fries.
Kolya on 12/8/2007 at 23:38
Actually Belgians invented French Fries, Pommes Frites, Chips. They do make them great still. :D

I've found and explored the big building in the 2nd level thoroughly, found a circuit board on the 3rd floor. But now I have no idea what to do next. Right now I'm trying to find out what the number is to enter that office by the entrance to Polaris. Could someone tell me where I find the log with that information?
I have a very hard time spotting logs that are placed in the environment; like on the floor or sitting on top of a crate, by the way.

Okay, so why is it wrong to say that "pommes" is a synonym of french fries?

Back to Polaris: GAAAAH!!! I'm in Research now and... what the f*** is that?!?
Zombies moaning vegetables?!?
Well, it's possible to complete this on Impossible using only the wrench. The exploding ice beasts were a pain, though.

Does Polaris work with the SS2 mod manager?
TheNightTerror on 13/8/2007 at 08:05
I don't know about the mod manager, but Garrettloader handles it just fine, as the latest version of Darkloader probably will. Odds are there'll be conflicts with installing Polaris on top of any other mod with the mod manager.
I had quite a bit of fun with this mission, it was a nice break for the afternoon. :D I loved the outdoor scenes and the snow, and the mission was fun to play. :) I had two rather amusing incidents involving the AI when I was playing:
Firstly, when I was still outside, I think I might have spotted a buggy AI, although he was very amusing to watch. :D I found a squirrel bouncing backwards on his tail, across the snow until he backed into a road, then he righted himself and ran away on his feet.
And later, once I was safe and warm inside, I was poking around in the crew quarters, and started playing with a guitar. Then, from right behind me I heard: "Not part of the harmony . . . "
I was laughing so hard that I didn't turn around in time to defend myself from him. :D I don't know if he was actually alerted by the sound, or if he just got a glimpse of me in the door way and the sound combination was a coincidence, but I loved it. :joke:
The only criticism I can think of is that there isn't any clear enemy leader in this campaign. It would've been rather interesting if The Many returned and threatened the player like in SS2, although the audio would've been hell to mix. Probably impossible to do without coordinating the male and female voice actors, but it was just a thought.
So, Christine . . . how many more months until the next one? ;) Or are you going to have a nervous collapse if you ever open ShockEd again?

It's not wrong to say "pommes frites" instead of just "frites", but in my experience it would be somewhat old-fashioned. "Pommes" in this case is short for "pommes de terre" which is the formal word for potatoes. Using just "pommes" as you do means "apples" though.
