Well, that will be horrendously difficult in the first outside parts of the mission. I had some problems with those and I used the guns. :o
Well, even though I'm playing on Impossible, I didn't find those parts to be really difficult. They are just frustrating, because they rely too much on shooting Rumbler-like beasts even if your weapon skills are still pretty low.
Oh and that ladder jump... please fix it, Christine!

Or you could just run past them.
Great work Christine. Hope you make another SS2 FM.

No, you can't just run past them. They're exactly as fast as the player is, so if you try to outrun them, you just end up with a dozen ice monsters following you around, ready to kill you the moment you stop to do anything.

As long as you run they can't reach you. In the first level just run around picking up stuff from corpses and then go to bulkhead to second level (they can even get stuck between the vans and the wall). There run to the construction site and climb up the ladders. Once you're ready to move on, drop down and run to the bridge. Monsters will eventually drop in the river or wander off and you can go to the next level.
I tried a wrench only play and thats the way I did it. Sadly I haven't been able to finish this FM wrench only.

I just killed them all - it wasn't that hard with a few reloads and careful use of med hypos.

Well, it's possible to complete this on Impossible using only the wrench. The exploding ice beasts were a pain, though.

You may very well enjoy roleplaying a character who has rocket-powered roller skates surgically attached to his feet, but most Shock players don't quite have the disposition for that.
I, for the life of me, cannot find the second device code. I've scrounged everything else up thus far in the FM (that sneaky activation card in Grim's office, for example) And I am beginning to think the second device code is actually in the high/restricted research area? Navigation in the crew area has been extremely difficult, as it all looks the same to me. Could anyone clue me in to where this thing can be found?
Edit - It was in the Research Area. Moving on. :)
@ Christine
Your fan missions have been an incredible breath of fresh air. I enjoyed Ponterbee and Nightwalker immensely. I appreciate the new design approach you took in Polaris, and look forward to providing feedback once I've mopped the place up. ;) Thank you for your efforts and contributions to the SS2 fan community!

How did you kill all of them? There are always one or two of them that respawn in the 2nd icebeast area.
Nameless Voice on 6/9/2007 at 22:41
Well, obviously enough I just left the respawned ones well enough alone after I was finished with that area.
Enchantermon on 6/9/2007 at 23:27
Haven't finished it yet, but for some reason I recognize the code number 48593 (you know, the one the that supposedly no one can remember). Is that one from another of your other missions?
Oh, and as soon as I first gazed upon the Science sector, a head fell out of mid air. ;)
