There are several different security machines which can be used to disable different packs of 'bots. By the time I get to where you are, they're disabled, so I'm guessing the one you're looking for is in the building directly across from the main gate, near where you arrived. This is all from memory, so it may be wrong.
In the first building, there's a small office area right by the main door, directly to the left of it. There's a security machine on a ramp, hidden behind a pop or candy machine, and another inside the office. One or both of those may disable the 'bots. But, if worst comes to worst, you can search the area for some heavy weaponry and just blow them apart. A light anti-tank weapon would do the job nicely.

Thanks again TheNightTerror, but after going back through every office and checking every console/computer, I still wasn't able to make the bot in the 3rd bay stand down. My main problem was I only had 4 LAMs, and I knew I was going to need at least 5 to blow up the 5 points on the ship. I pretty much had given up, and went back to the lower decks of the ship. Then, after clearing the first main area and blowing the first 2 stress points of the ship, I found lots more LAMs (Woo-Hoo!!). Sooooo, back I went yet again to that stubborn bot, blowing him into tiny bot-pieces, and satisfying my secondary objective. [HEAVY sigh of relief]
Now I can finish this level (hopefully). :thumb:

Well, its good to see that you're having fun with Deus Ex. Tricky isn't it? :D

This is why everyone should carry a GEP gun.
GEP gun... when you absolutely have to explode every single bot, turret, box, door, and barrel in the level, accept no substitutes.

Well Bassmanret, if you want a spoiler, here you go:
If you are totally out of explosives, or if you just want to save your LAMs, you can find a GEP gun on the bow of the PRC Wallcloud. You will need to carefully jump on to the rail, and edge your way to the front. There, you will see a crate, and a GEP gun. The crate is full of rockets. If you are already carrying the maximum number of rockets, you might consider carrying the box to the stern of the ship, near the entryway to the lower decks, for easy access later. If you want, though, I would be happy to make a demorec file for you. A demorec is a movie-file, which uses vector information to record player and actor movements; it's not something you can play with a media player... it's a Deus Ex file. You could learn a lot from seeing how someone else plays the game with minimal resources. Send me a Personal Message if you want, and I'll make the demo and post a link to it, and explain how to use it.
Thanks moop (and all), but nope, I really don't need help anymore. I'm well past the Naval Shipyards, through the cemetary level, and am now in Paris, just about to enter the catacombs. Since you mention it, though, I did notice the GEP gun on my first venture to the ship, and actually went looking for it at some point in order to take out that ball-busting bot, but for some reason couldn't find it on subsequent trips to the ship (I really should take notes......NAH!). My preference in weaponry so far is the pistols (silenced and non-silenced) and the sniper rifle. All others just take up too much inventory space for me. I also keep the sword for opening stuff, and "try" to keep an ample supply of LAMs, EMPs, and such, but basically leave behind the machine guns and rocket launchers. Just too bulky. Lockpicks are my "golden items", I just can't seem to find enough of them, and I try to use them as sparingly as possible....yeeeeessss, I even kinda cheat now and again by saving before lockpicking in case the prize wasn't worth the lockpicks.
Damn, this went longer than I intended! Sorry.
Well, I'm off!!! :thumb:

:thumb: Way to go !!!!!!!!!
Paris! A great area. Now the levels are really going to get interesting!
When you get to the chateau, be sure to talk to Nicolette enough so that she tells you about her sex experiences there. (use the back door)
Explore a lot!!! Anywhere and everywhere!!! Don't miss a place!!!

Ok, I've been playing alot, so this will be long. Apologies in advance.
In a word: I GET IT NOW (ok, 4). I now understand why this game is given such respect and reverence. To quote my favorite line from the Matrix, "Whoa!".
I've put in about 8 hours on this game this weekend, and have progressed from Paris to Vandenburg. I guess I should do this a level at a time. So..
Paris: I started out not liking this level because of the grouped nature of the enemies in front of the guard station with the computer (I prefer to save my LAMs for emergencies). I also was a bit put off by the secondary objective of drug dealing with Renault (he used to be a car, right?). Not that I'm against the honorable, intellectually-challenging, labor-intensive profession of drug dealing, mind you (hey, some of my best friends are drug dealers...[looks over shoulder for mother-in-law]), it's just that I don't like being forced into it. I know I could have chosen NOT to, but then I wouldn't get the skill points. Anyway, I actually completed this level twice. On the first run, as I flew away in the helicopter, I noticed a balcony that "bothered" me because I hadn't noticed it before and hadn't explored it. So, I reloaded to a previous save, and found that the balcony was part of an apartment building full of STUFF!! There's nothing like the satisfying feeling of electricuting snobby French folks...then, kicking them...then, ..well, you don't want to know. Lastly, I couldn't help doing a thoroughly enthusiastic "nya-nya-nya-nee-nya-nya" to Gunther as he tried to catch the chopper an watched me fly away.
Chateau: Being the perverted pig that I am, throughout this level I just couldn't help repeatedly asking, "Hey Nicolette, you certainly have some ample breastitude, and you're accent has my mechanochemical power cells doing the rumba.... this house is empty....that's your bed, huh?...did you know my nanofactories can construct monomolecular plates around the epithelial membrane of my" ....[AHEM!!]... Fun to explore, but this level was a bit easy and boring.
Cathedral: HERE WE GO!!! This is my favorite level!!! Initially not intended, but I played this level entirely with ONLY the sniper rifle. No other weapons or items (especially lockpicks, WOO-HOO!!!) except the sword for opening boxes and bashing windows were used . OMFG was this FUN!!! Oh yeah, I used the kill phrase for Gunther, but did try NOT using it a couple of times. The results were a very quick, painful, hellish demise. Has anyone ever beat Gunther here, and if so, HOW???
Morgan: Not much to say on this level, except I killed the cat (walked on it once or twice...oops!) and "swimming with the fishes" took on a different meaning. Lots of good upgrades, though. I identified the "bad" mechanic easily. Pretty straight forward.
Vandenburg: So, here I am!! Just into it a little ways, but so far, it's sniperific! I've taken out many from a distance, and am sneaking into the lower levels as I type. .....SssssHhhh!
Moving on... :thumb:

With Gunther it's just a matter of hitting him as much as possible, there's no trick. Use the pillars to avoid his flamer, and he'll take out an assault rifle which makes him easier. You can even try hitting him before he sees you, which is a cheap way of doing it.
Did you find Lucius & Morpheus at Everett's place?

Get the Dragon's Tooth Sword, a fully upgraded combat augmentation, and being a master of low-tech weapons couldn't hurt. Oh, and keep a fire extinguisher handy. That's all I needed on my melee weapon only games.
