Lol, yeah ... I actually quit during the dream sequence the first time I watched it. :)

Oh dear angelwings.... That's the kind of thing twelve year old emo kids think is somehow cool. Rest was slick but without charm however i'm hoping it doesn't go down the superficial deep and brooding angsty character route as that could get incredibly annoying.
Just hope the game doesn't go out of its way with the cringeworthy stuff enough to make it become an issue.
Not a good sign on the whole styling aspect but no point jumping the gun on it all as it's only a cg trailer though so no point getting worked up.

You guys don't get it. In the future humans are frustrated by how difficult it is to interpret meaning in dreams so they invented the Simple Symbolism aug for less confusion in life.

i like my heavyhandiness and overblown characters but less sledgehammer please, especially in the overwhelming reference and obvious symbolismn category, that's all I'm saying. June will bring the goods hopefully and less emo.

Same with the Icarus thing. Yeah, it wasn't subtle, but it's not like
Deus Ex has ever been that anyway.
Exactly. Not sure if it's a case of rose-tinted glasses but I always thought the first game had the most unwieldy dialogue on weighty topics that landed like a brick.

Totally full of hidden subtle depths!

Overall, I liked it. It was a nice short animated film, and not quite up to Square Enix's usual level of over-the-top anime fury. I didn't mind the dream sequence any more than the cracking cup or the snnnnikkt arm-blade.
It's just extremely hard to get excited over a little animated video that wasn't even made by the makers of the game... yeah? How do we even know that the scanning enemies through the walls to find their weak points and weapon stats is even in the game? We don't. It probably isn't.
Is it?

I'm pretty sure they mentioned having gameplay like that in an interview somewhere.
It just probably won't look nearly as sexy in-game.
