Praise indeed! :p I'm looking forward to viewing this when I'm at home, but tell me: it's all pre-rendered or in-engine cinematic then, yes? No in-game footage at all?
Digital Nightfall on 12/3/2010 at 17:07
It's all cutsceney CGI, probably Square-Enix made.

Ah, thanks Digi.

Hm. Awkwardness with a changing body, "didn't ask for this" angst, smoking and drinking, dreams of angel wings and flight, sense of persecution, snapping into an attack pose when no one's around to see it (yet)...
It's a goddamn love letter to teenage angst/rage that every other game has been for the last six or seven years.
Some promise in there, though.

and a much ham-fisted reference to Icarus.
Holy shit. I did recognize Icarus but I totally blanked on *the* Icarus. :laff:

The Cyberpunk in DX:HR has been a ripoff mix of Oshii's GITS and Shirow's GITS from the start. I've never seen such blatant uninventiveness before.
That's not to say it's not going to work actually, those aesthetics are pretty good by themselves. The design lead is just a lazy bastard :]
Yeah, I recognized the new-to-cybernetics-and-can't-control-them-effectively-yet-resulting-in-me-breaking-something-I'm-holding thing from the intro to GITS immediately.

Except the shades, which are a sort-of callback to Neuromancer.
It's kinda funny how dated the whole thing seems now actually. Not that it's bad, it's just it doesn't seem like what the future will be like anymore (but this place hs probably been over all that already)

Every bit of the dream sequence was just cheap-looking cheeseball awful. The waking bits were... tolerable.
